He won't be back until WBA at least. He's currently in Uruguay while his wife gives birth. One thing we haven't done this season is keep possession. I've noticed nearly every other team has good spells of passing possession, but we don't. As soon as we get the ball, we instantly try to get forward as quickly as possible, trying risky passes rather than keeping the ball and trying to force a mistake. The forward club have got their wish, wonder if they're happy now.
Cheers, I'd forgotten that. But anyway Jela could do with a strike partner. Even Sagbo with his holding off strength.
That's because they have "Strikers" - we haven't! This lad went through the Man U defence like it was butter then found himself 'wrong-footed' when it came to shoot so had to prod it with his 'good foot'! Why the hell isn't someone focusing on getting this lad to use his other foot? The same thing with Cairney who could have been so much better with a right foot as well as a left. Didn't have his usual game but we were up against a really good team in Man U and he was mostly very well held. Because that is the way he plays. He has "Bound-for-Glory" tattooed on his @rse. If you are including me in this fictitious "Forward Club" I have many times stated that, like today, we appear to have little or nothing in the top third of the pitch - which is where it counts if we are to score goals. Brady and Elmo were negated by a strong team today which is why Jelly was running around like a blue-@rsed fly with no end result. Please do not mention Sagbo - who was apparently 'recalled' from Wolves as the dressing room cleaner was sick - in the same vein as Premier League footballers.
But not a striker, as you seemed to be suggesting.. They've scored something like 3 goals in their last 8 games, you can't seriously be suggesting Leicester are a team to admire in terms of goalscoring options.
Yesterday whenever we tried to go forward we gave the ball away, which put us on the back foot. For me Huddlestone has not been at his best, but yesterday we missed him, as he would have helped us keep more possession, and take pressure off the back four.
Before yesterday's goals (which were worthless) they'd not scored in their previous 5 games. Don't tell The Tickler of Oz though, it may just piss on his bonfire.
We could have had Costa and Bony up front for us yesterday and it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference, the ball barely got near the final third.
It's kinda silly some of you want him out after losing to Man Utd. Keep the faith. There was a decent tweet from the HDM reporter yesterday (Phil what'shisname?) that said about how 2500 travelling fans were still singing Bruce's name which shows he still has the support of many fans.
I had a good day out if you miss out the Old Trafford and the match bit. Ben Arfa should be sent packing. His contribution yesterday was two touches of the ball. A free kick to no-one and a block which went for a throw in. In between he strolled around in his natty gloves admiring Man Utd passing the ball around him. The man his stealing his wages. I though Brady was decent. Someone should also have a word with Robertson. The lad could be a real gem but the facts are he loses possession too often in his own half by trying to be a show pony and more often then enough a goal is scored from his mistake.
If there is I've yet to see any evidence of it from us. And roo, that wasn't a dig at you, I was referring to the people that sit near me and shout "forward" Everytime we play anything that looks remotely like a sideways possession style pass.
Totally agree, we are abysmal at getting into the final third with any real threat - your 'forward club' was a tad misleading, but understood now, although I understand their frustration.
By this time last season, Elmo had cost us more than a dozen goals. He remains a liability when asked to operate in a defensive role, and I think Robertson is cast in the same mould. He will be an excellent player in the years to come, be it with us or another top club.
