I can see why you'd think that but nothing could be further from the truth mate.

I'm banned from 3 boards, Newcastle, Hull & Southampton, because I responded in kind to 3 Mods who came on here.

Until they came on here attempting to wind people up I hadn't bothered with their boards.

I went to their boards and posted logic, reason & debate without using any bad language or whatever.

All 3 banned me because they didn't have an answer and all 3 then chose to attack me knowing I couldn't defend myself on their boards.

They then proceeded to come on here having a go whenever they felt the need.

When anyone pulled them they'd claim 'Smug has been winding us up'.

The fact is that spewing out tired insults & clichés never winds anyone up.

What wound them up was hitting the nail on the head and showing them up as the hypocrites they are.

Winding them up wasn't my intention, just a happy by product <ok>

Going back to Billy's post about African civil wars, many of them caused by despotic governments that were overthrown by uprising. Turned to America for aid but were knocked back by them as they were an unelected power. Russia or China stepped in smartish with variety of building/arms/ideology and look at the state of the continent now.

Good old USofA.

Despots indeed.
Look at Zimbabwe.
They thought it was bad as Rhodesia under Ian Smith.
They wanted black power, they got it, they got Robert Mugabe who has since rigged elections as UN observers have said.
Never mind though, he's a nice guy.
Once known as the bread basket of Africa, many people are now starving.
But at least they got what they wanted.

Have a look at this.

Anybody notice the common denominator?

As I said, the country has been messed up recently by Al Shabaab which is turning into an unseen war, with Kenyan troops attacking Somalian bases under the peacekeeping banner of the UN.

I was in Nairobi when the US Embassy was bombed and heard the explosion quite clearly.

When I use the term 'civilised' I'm referring to the deportment of the typical African. When I first went there -to Mombasa, I felt so much at home - they're very hospitable, generous and welcoming. It reminded me of North-East folk, another civilised part of the world imho, and civilised for the same reasons: ie, people of generous spirit.

So many from that continent are the same: Ugandans, Zimbabweans, Ghanaians spring to mind. Nice people and good people who seem to able to easily prioritise what is important in life and ignore the other crap. It's terribly unfair that so many countries there have to endure corrupt/bad leadership and they deserve better, much better than that.

That's exactly right Terry.

I can handle any amount of infantile drivel from Comm, Shameless, GC or anyone else as you well know.

The intelligent people, on here, are wise enough to understand what I post, the dross just thrash around because of their own inadequacies.

I just don't want the board ruining for the decent lads.

I chose to stop posting because it just became tedious not because I was 'savaged' by a bunch of arrogant idiotic bores.

I'm only posting on this thread to correct a few people's misapprehensions, not as a prelude to returning to the board.

Much like the dictators of Europe being European, the dictators of the far east being Asian, the dictators of the middle east being Arabic and the dictators of South American being Latino, the dictators of Africa are African.

Fair enough mate, that's your business, not mine. Not complaining or bitching just observing.

I, personally, don't really engage wums as it seems to give them something to feed off.

I know what you're saying and I tend to avoid the obvious suspects.

But in the case of the Hull Mod, as an example, he came over here and started having pops at people.
He then went on to make general cracks about Sunderland 'special needs' etc and dishing out various other insults.

When I responded in kind, on the Hull board, he organised a ban. That was despite me being much more reserved in my comments than he'd been on here. In fact, many of the Hull posters appreciated my posts and told him so, which he didn't appreciate. That's the intrinsic problem with too many on here, they love to dish it out, with the help of their little band of mutual arse-lickers, but they can't take it back.

Of course, quite agree with you.
I was trying to point out though, that in recent times in Africa the mass slaughter has been black on black.

They wanted rid of colonial rule, which they got.
Are they any better off?
Indeed, some are a lot worse.

It's **** all to do with racism as much as the do gooders want you to believe it.

We went in as the more advanced nations. as we went in we changed their cultures, stripped their land of resources and when they'd had enough we left them in a mess, probably a century behind us in many ways.

Leopold of Belgium was perhaps the worst for this oddly enough.

Since then a lot of them have done **** all to develop their nations other than continuous civil war and mass murder, which has left them the state they're in.

That said there's a few African nations ahead of others but overall corruption is a massive problem, lack of value on life and greed are ****ing them. I'm not talking about individuals as I only really know a couple of lads from Botswana and a few from South Africa. I'm talking generally and if anyone disagrees they're more than welcome to their opinion but I've developed mine over my adult life and haven't seen anything to contradict my views to this point.

A hundred years from now will be a different story, they'll have caught up much in the way China has. With their resources they'll find their way, eventually and I imagine we'll go to them cap in hand.

Smug is also an entertaining poster who is sadly missed by many on here. I am not his apologist or his excuser, he doesn’t need me to speak for him, but I certainly miss his contributions to this board.

I find some of what he posts distasteful but I enjoy reading a lot more of his posts. I initially struggled to get his humour which led to a couple of spats that reminded me of two dogs fighting over a rubber bone, pointless. I personally would never say anything on an Internet forum that I wouldn’t repeat if I met that person socially and although I have never met him, I suspect Smug is exactly the same, however it is easy for some to hide behind the anonymity provided by the internet to say things for their own entertainment that they probably should not.

We lost two very good regular posters in Smug and VJ and gained Douglas posting more regular than previously, now I don’t want to be disparaging to Douglas, but I know who I would rather read posts from. <ok>

Well lah-dee-dah ...people come and go, the forum has hit some dips before

There are still many quality people posting regularly. People who know their **** when it comes to matters Sunderland (inc:smug btw) disagreements and friendly banter. I'm among the few on here, who believes we have a red and white asset in Altidore, a position easier to defend today

Is it just me or was Jozy sharper yesterday? He looks like he's been laying off the weights and getting more cardio in. Had an extra bit of acceleration about him which he's desperately needed as once he's up to speed, like Connor, he becomes an express train.

Some wishful thinking here, or is it, perhaps Jozy should start a game or two, wear down the opposition, and give Fletch the last 20 minutes, if we had done this yesterday who knows. Of course I am well pleased with the draw, but it is an option open for Gus on Wednesday, It could be that Man City will be a bit light at the back after to-days event, and we have an extra days rest to boot, bring it on.
