you also have a decent manager to be fair, you had money when moyes was there didn't you, just no ****er wanted to play for him, and it does look like outside looking in you have over paid for players and wages to be able to get them. yeah i know we have done the same, but we lost 2 key players, your attack should be doing what ours was doing last season making up for how ****e your defence is, we are now crap both ends lol.
Ok, but I don't see how that answers the question of why Lloris would move to Liverpool. Quite simply he wouldn't at this stage of his career unless he club offered him stupid wages, which they won't and can't.
I don't think he would, but then again, Spurs don't really seem to be progressing and no-one else has actually made a move for him yet. If we'd gone for him in the summer there may have been more of a chance, but right now I'm not sure he'd see moving to us as a step up.
that answers it, we could in the same way you managed to, overpaying and giving them silly wages. i accept the fact we don't do that, but we could, and it would get him like it does most players. you want to use the excuse because we are ****e? fair enough, but you was ****e and still managed to get world class players even with no european football, wonder how you managed that
But you can't or at best won't. Which is why you replaced Suarez with Balotelli as opposed to Sanchez, for example. Lloris is a cracking keeper, the only way he's moving to Liverpool is if you pay him 200k a week. Which you can't or at best won't.
I think it's more a question of how long you have been s**te for. Utd had a terrible season last year, but we are moving forwards this season and looking like we have a good shot to be back in the CL next season. Liverpool had a good season last year, but it was the first since 2009, and now they are right back where they were the season before. I think it's easier to convince a play to join a club on the basis of them having one bad season out of a number of good ones, compared to a club that's had one good season out of a number of bad ones. Offering him stupid wages doesn't seem to be an option, given that you got shot of Reina for his wages.
come on seriously. if a wum is fair gain, fine, but we had reina and wouldn't have him sat on his ass as no 2 because of wages, we would have to sell migs first not make him our no 2, we have cheap ass wages jones for that!!, and who wants to give us more than a fiver for him? we could get players the same way you did, overpay for them, and give them silly wages, but the bottom line is we could.
I guess a player would look at the clubs available to him and make a decision based on who he thinks can offer him the best quality of life. That wouldn't just be the living area or money, it would be who can offer the best chance of success too. Looking at Lloris choosing between Liverpool and Spurs: Location: London > Liverpool Wages: probably about the same History / Reputation: Liverpool > Spurs Current squad: equal? Chances of success: equal? IMO, if he was only just coming to the PL then it could have been 50:50 although I'm not convinced players join a club for their history . However, with him already at Spurs, why would he make a side step...? Pretty sure other clubs will be interested that can offer better than the above too.
Not sure I could have made it clearer that United have money to throw around (by saying United have money to throw around). Liverpool don't or won't (I may have mentioned this as well).
Haven't people been poking us with the 'spent £120m in the summer' stick for the last few months... Obviously we could afford to throw money around and we literally did
You've thrown money around on average players who will accept an "average" wage (I know how ridiculous that sounds). Lloris isn't average.
No arguments with that but you said we couldn't afford to throw money about, we could have chucked that money highlighted at two top players instead so we could afford to, we just choose not to, that's the point!
Lloris wants to leave Spurs no matter what so who would come for him that he would prefer over Liverpool? Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Bayern are all sorted for keepers and Barcelona have a transfer ban so who else? Real Madrid or PSG maybe? If we get CL next season it's not even a question.
