I live close to Grove Park, is there anyone who goes by car and who has a spare seat could pick me up on match days, I will of course help with the fuel cost?

I've given up with driving, take the train up to London Bridge & down to Charlton, parking will only get worse. But now concerned about the London Bridge redevelopment. May have to go back to the car with parking a few miles away from Charlton & brisk walk. Good luck with your search for a car share.

Well I must say that I am truly overwhelmed by the number of replies I received offering help. Obviously I picked the wrong forums to ask.
Thank you charltonted for your reply.

I live in Bexleyheath but I would be quite happy to drive over to Grove Park. I would then pay for us to have a full steak meal with all the trimmings. Then we could stop at a hostelry of your choice, where I would pay for all the drinks. If you want me to do any DIY jobs I of course would be happy to do them for free.

But I think your best bet is getting a train to London Bridge and changing for a Greenwich line service. I hope I was of some assistance to you? <cool>

Very droll Mr. Dick. So let me come down to your level and say that if your wit had been s**t you would have been constipated for life.

As for your comment, yet if I had my own car, I would truly have left you behind.

However, I thank those who have given me sensible replies and to state I shall not be continuing to use these forums .any further as I it is clique based.

Plonker - I have just spoken to my Charlton supporting mate, and he is willing to help you out with a lift on match days. There are only three draw backs - he travels down to Charlton games from North Wales, he only comes down once a season, and his dog is very ill so he can't even guarantee that one.

    Any good ?

On match days when I can afford to, I drive into Ryde and park my car in a back street. I walk along Ryde pier, catch the ferry to Portsmouth and then get a train from Portsmouth Harbour to Waterloo and go from there to Charlton. It makes for a long day but I'm not complaining.

It's a bit different to when I was a kid, catching a bus (a 53, 54 or 75 as I recall) from the Royal Standard to Victoria Way and then walking down the hill, past The Valley pub and feeling that buzz when Floyd Road came into view. Back then I was able to run back up Viccy Way after the game in the hope that I'd get home in time for Doctor Who with William Hartnell as The Doctor. Happy days.

Grove Park..? Bloody hell, mate.... The Valley's on your doorstep..!!
