Yeah. I have seen the JohnLewis deals and none appeal to me. I'm not into 3D and 55inch for my bedroom is just stupid.
Well, I have to admit, it's a great buy indeed, especially for your requirements. LG are second only to Samsung, in my book, for Smart TV's, and you have a 4K one so that's very cheap and future proofed. If you've got a Blu-Ray player and discs you're going to see them in a quality you've never witnessed before, that's for sure. Me, I'd rather go for the 50" HD Samsung for the same price, I think. But then, as I keep saying, I don't watch that much TV, and I don't really want to encourage myself to sit in front of one. I'll stick with the 28" I occasionally use for now. The biggun's make fantastic computer monitors though..!
Blimey, they're doing my brother's 40" Samsung 3D TV for £379. He bought his from Richer Sounds in July for £428 when its price elsewhere was £599. Still, these things happen.
http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue40hu6900-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-40-with-freeview-hd/p1465124 Just seen this (My payment hasn't gone through yet so I stopped it). So this or the LG?
Well, it will be the better TV, because its Smart hub is superior. Plus, I think it's accepted that Samsung get a slightly better picture performance. It's £100 difference, so it's upto you. Both are great TVs, there's no doubt. Me..? I'd pay the extra. I fancy I'd regret not doing it later.
Refresh rates are not consistent across the board. Each company uses it's own system. If you go on the net you can find the comparison. I used to be confused by this myself until I found out. 900hz seems awfully high though [good]. What do the reviews say..?
If you're still around Beefy, and you're getting all crossed up wondering what the hell to do, here's a very good explanation of the various refresh rates. It gives a table for each company: http://www.rtings.com/info/fake-ref...otion-rate-vs-sony-motionflow-vs-lg-trumotion
And if you're still around, stick with your original TV choice. I've looked at them both, and specs wise I think that LG looks a honey. You want it for gaming as well as TV, and it's 200Hz [real rate] refresh does it against the Samsung's 100Hz real refresh rate. What with being £100 cheaper and 2" bigger, I'd buy it and not think about the comparison any further, mate. Sorry to have given you wrong advice before, but it's a general easy safe bet with Samsung usually.
can confirm samsung software tends to be less s**t than LG. i wouldn't use a smart tv's built in functionality though.
input lag is voodoo afaik. refresh rate doesn't seem to directly affect it http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/ 200hz is good enough in theory though. no console is doing more than 60fps, most of the time they won't do more than 30fps.
i'd run a raspberry pi or similar rather than let the TV do it. they are all hopeless. samsung is just less hopeless than LG. the new google thingy might be interesting. running a chromecast ATM but it's very limited.
Tbf, I run a fairly fast quad core PC through my TV. I don't use its tuner at all. I get any TV off the Net. I haven't had an aerial on the roof for 5 years.
Woah. Some Alien TV knowledge geeks have captured Koeman's and replaced PLs love posts with some foreign language I don't understand. I don't understand PLs post, but at least I understand them. Understand? What happened to a telly being either black n white or colour?
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/540789/REVEALED-250m-Saints-Southampton-Premier-League The Express has drawn up a dream team of present and past Saints players that could have won the PL if kept together. They haven't put much thought into it as they have just taken our recent sales and a couple of obvious ones (like Bale) and stuck them together. My point is that they bothered at all...you still get fans who remain convinced that the media pay us no attention...just not true, we are in the spotlight. They have become aware that some Arsenal stars didn't start there.
