RIP...Phil ...condolences to his family, but also to Sean Abbott the bowler, who I think has said he will never play again.
    Sad times...

Indeed, he'll struggle to recover from this.

    A truly tragic accident.

RIP Phil Hughes, 25 is so so young. Can't imagine what his family, friends, and teammates are going through.

Also, thoughts with the bowler, I can't imagine how he must be feeling right now.

My condolences to the Hughes family.
As Queens has mention, this sad story is being played out all round the country and the world for that matter.
Respect to New Zealand, India, Pakistan and alike for their acknowledgement.

I agree in thinking Abbott will not play again, my main concern for him will be how he attempts to get on with life.
He will need ongoing support from family and friends to say the least.
    I hope he succeeds.

A truly tragic accident.....thoughts are with everyone concerned as they try to come to terms with what happened. Hope the lad who bowled the ball will eventually come to terms with the fact that it was not his fault.

    RIP

#putoutyourbats is a nice gesture. My vintage 1977 one, not used in anger for at least 15 years, is on the front step. Had to dig around in the garage to find it. I don't think cricket is popular enough with the yoof (or this particular bat attractive enough) for anyone to nick it.

Terrible Terrible accident and as others have said previously a great person with a wonderful attitude to life. RIP Phillip.
Agree with previous posts about young Sean Abbott - he was a close friend of Phillips and I hope he can find it within himself, at some point, to move forward.

Such a sad turn of events for a young, talented sportsman.

Can't believe some neck protection for batsmen is impossible without restricting movement.

Sean Abbot will surely be affected. What will go through his mind every time he works up the aggression to bowl a bouncer?

    RIP Phil Hughes
