The Romans used to be big in Europe too haven't heard from them in a while either ! So play nice ! We did warn you though........
I really want to say I have faith in Rodgers but I'd be lying. He got all the plaudits last season and rightly so, he adapted our team to play to our strengths, turning players like Flanagan (WHERE IS HE?) and Sterling around, and fitting two class strikers in the team, and then shifting Gerrard to DM which did actually work. He struck gold, found a system which suited us to a tee. 6 months on, the weak link is obvious - our attack, we've gone from SAS to Lambert, Borini and Balotelli (who in fairness I thought was a good signing at the time), and of course out defence. But hey, we knew that anyway. He tried to address it, but my biggest gripe with Rodgers is that he's wasted a lot of money. It's hard to judge where to go from here.. We look like a team of individuals who are all passing the buck in terms of pressure. And to top it off, we look incredibly unfit. Which isn't really a surprise when we have a 34 year old playing 270 minutes a week. Factor in the considerable drop in confidence, the unexplained rotation of fullbacks, a shaky keeper who has been ripped apart publically, and a new CB who looks lost. The spine of the team is the problem for me ---------Mignolet---------- ------Skrtel--Lovren------ ---------Gerrard----------- ----------Hendo------------ ----------Studge----------- The back three speaks for itself. Hardly evokes reasurrance does it? Gerrard seemingly undroppable, the weight of our midfield seems to rest on him. Henderson seems to be in fluctuating form. Sturridge is made of glass. Now that should be the base of our team, the first name on the team sheets. And now bar Sturridge not one of them would get in any of the top sides in the division. Rodgers HAS to change something, and fast because the axes are being sharpened and people are losing faith. As is the nature of top level football, success/progession has to be sustained. I'm reluctant to say we're back to square one, we stand a good chance of qualifying for the CL knock-out rounds and overall our squad looks better. But whether a formation change is needed, 3 at the back, 2 up top or even Gerrard being dropped, this is the acid test for Rodgers. If we can't turn this around in the next couple of games I think he'll more than likely be gone.
did i really need to? desperate to keep any old ****e going on here aren't you lol, the swan took it the right way, wonder why you cant
It's not the results that are p*ssing me off - it's Rodgers playing the same frauds, playing the same tactics, blaming the youngsters. Unfortunately I can;t see him changing this around UNLESS he brings in top quality coaches in.
Toady will either be another nail or a step forward, reall hope it's the step forward. We'll know when the team is released.
