Gerrard has been mostly playing defensive midfield for the last few seasons. How many goals do you expect defensive midfielders to score in a season from open play?
Would you not say because of that he isn't much of a goal threat anymore then? His main "threat" from open play is long range shots... but I can't remember many times in recent season he's looked dangerous when shooting long.
