I'm liking the pace upfront today... Lambert and Gerrard. Compare that to last year

How open are we in CM to their counters though. Even with 4 CM's and Lucas being the defensive one, they're just walking through us in the middle.

 

Is Couts on the bench? I cannot understand why Gerrard is playing there if we have a far superior player for that position available

Coutinho is a good player but he isn't as efficient as Gerrard in possession and he isn't really a goal threat like Gerrard is.

Add that to the fact Coutinho is really inconsistent, our whole game plan would rely on him hopefully turning up for the game and performing well. Quite risky in a must win game...

And that's being kind. This is a side that's shot of confidence and ideas. It looks clueless.

 

Erm, in tough games where Gerrard is closed down quickly, his possession isn't great either.

And remind me who scored a goal from open play last between the 2? Gerrard isn't a goal threat unless he has a pen or free kick, 2 things that Lambert can quite as easily do instead.
