Could do a lot worse than signing this lad I remember when he was playing in Russia a few years ago for Zenit he was quality not realy followed him since his move to Stuttgart

Thank goodness it ain't the other Pav, although at this stage I would rather we signed a striker who has more EPL experience, to go alongside Gyan and the new guys who we can't necessarily expect to excel right away...

would certainly fit the bill like, he's a big man who can put himself about but is also good with the ball at his feet

Been expecting us to sign some players from Germany. We had scouts there quite a bit during the season.

Im surprised we havnt tried to sign Kuriyani again.

Dunno if I would prefer ROman Pav. The experience he has in this league is invaluable. And the Stuttgart forum link you posted seems to have unanimous opinion that he is slow, and a bit of a Kenny Jones type player, as in only turns it on once every 4-5 games.

Still a far more reliable bet than our other new strikers Id say however.

Pavel Pogrebnyak's agent has confirmed there is interest from the Premier League amid reports Sunderland are in talks to sign the Stuttgart striker.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is anxious to improve his attacking options this summer and has already snapped up Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-yon.

However, a more experienced forward may also be required at the Stadium of Light and the Black Cats have been linked with a bid for Pogrebnyak.

The Russia international has spent the past two seasons with Stuttgart and has reportedly been wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham in the past.

Reports in Germany over the weekend claimed Sunderland are keen to sign the 27-year-old and the forward's agent Oleg Artemov acknowledged there is interest from England.

"For now, I can not tell you anything," Artemov told Sports.ru in relation to the Sunderland link. "Let's leave this piece of news without any comments.

"There really are some offers for Pogrebnyak, but today it's all still at the negotiation stage.

"The interest from German and English clubs still exists. However, we haven't received any new offers."

Saw a few articles about us possibly going for this player so thought I'd have a look on his wiki page.....had to laugh at the delusional skunk editting....
'in the summer of 2011 he was linked to a £7m move to Newcastle United, but we decided to let the dole capital of Britain Sunderland have a go at our rejected signings':emoticon-0111-blush

Would rather look elsewhere too as he is totally unknown quantity.

We need a striker that can hit the ground running from day one, not 6 months down the line. Roman Pavulychenko would fit the bill better than this Pav IMO?

Baldy? Did you really describe him as a 'nacker'? I think the Spurs lad (Roman Pav) is a canny player personally and far from being a nacker?

He might have a point - the amount of signings we are making of late, surely it's more than people signing on the dotted line....
