Hello! This is just an experiment, let's see how it goes, hey? This thread is a place we can talk about non football stuff - films, games, music and so on. As a gamer, I'll be right at home here, and I hope many of you will be as well!
Just a word of warning, its not an adult porn section so any porn will be deleted. Dont think its for us older generation, cant see Perry Como records being a hit.
just watched this and pissing myself.. It's all these bloody mag signings that's doing it.
Any other gamers here willing to talk about their favourite franchise? For me, it's probably EA's Need for Speed (don't laugh!). Played the 1st one, all I remember was being given a speeding ticket by a pile of pixels. Then I played NFS II SE, didn't particularly like it, the tracks were awful, kept falling off one particular bridge... NFS III Hot Pursuit was a classic, spent months playing that with my friends, split screen 2 player on the PC. The El Nino and the Pursuit El Nino, they won me everything (I know, it's basically cheating!) Porsche Unleashed, another favourite of mine. Best of the lot IMO. Beautiful cars on it, even more beautiful tracks. It all went downhill from there. I then had the Hot Pursuit 2 demo, with the new feature of that pesky police helicopter. Hated it. Then came Underground and Underground 2. What a load of rubbish. And the cutscenes were truly embarrassing. NFS III had a better intro for goodness sake! Haven't played any after those. So, what's your favourite game franchise? PES? GTA? Age of Empires? Cossacks? Rise of Nations? (as you can tell, I'm a PC gamer)
...and if gaming isn't your thing, you can use this thread to talk about films as well. Can't wait to get my hands on X-Men: First Class. Seen the trailer and it looks brilliant. And when's The Dark Knight Rises (if that's what it's called) going to be out? The Dark Knight was fantastic, Batman Begins was rubbish, mind - Christopher Nolan probably doesn't even own a copy. Feel free to post a review of Thor as well...
I'm into the history of the Vietnam war, so for me the best two movies ever made were Platoon and Full Metal Jacket. Two completly different takes on the problems of the events.
Russell Crowe as Robin Hood... The only DVD I own which I've only watched once... Gosh that was bad. Commachio, what about other biographical / period films? Loved The Queen, Helen Mirren, Michael Sheen. The Special Relationship wasn't very good. The King's Speech was magnificent. "****, ****, ****, ****, ****, bugger, ****... And tits."
Russel Crowe, is ok, best two he made were Gladiator, and his first movie Romper Stomper. Not everyone's cup of tea due to it's racial content. but if you can get over that it's a good movie. Not my favorite movie, but has to have the best ten minute start to any movie, has to be the beginning of Saving Private Ryan.
My favourite intro was of The Matrix (the first one). The music, the questions you're dying to know the answers to (Trinity : "It's the question that drives you, Neo." Neo : "What is the Matrix?")... The first time I watched all three films was on a new year's eve in my hotel room in Mombasa on satellite tv. Went to bed at 5am, missed breakfast. Promptly got the DVDs when I returned to Nairobi. The first episode of The Animatrix (Final Flight of the Osiris [sp?]) had an excellent intro as well.
Think I'll create another account so I can talk to myself on here. Me: so how does one win a game on Rise of Nations?? Me: don't know, it's impossible! Give me American Conquest any day! Me: completely agree m8! And when's Spiderman 4 coming out? Me: no idea. They're taking ages to finish that! Grr. Me: loving season 7 of Greys Anatomy btw, the season finale of 6 was epic! And so on...
Think maybe a good idea, cos ain't got a clue what your talking about .
Definitely loved the Dark Knight shame we can't see the joker in the new one Ledger was legend in that film.
haha, I know. Will be back after a few hours, hope someone can keep the ball rolling! As long as the gaming forum doesn't descend into a farce like *that* other forum which I shall not name for fear of reprisals, I'm ok. Can't do multi-quote on my phone so: @Commachio, I'm sure someone will get me. Eventually. Anyone out there? @prisonbroken, agreed. I'd read about Heath Ledger's performance, and heard *that* line "Why so serious?" before watching The Dark Knight, but was still completely BLOWN AWAY by his role. Brilliant. Best super hero film baddie since Dr Octopus in Spider-Man 2 IMO.
The need for spped franchise went tits up when they brought out 'underground' for me, it lost it's @USP' moving onto the track, and i didn't feel it ever recovered from that. I'm an avid FIFA and Tiger Woods player, we have a big Fifa league on a Friday night on live (although i'm goosed at the minute as when i shipped my xbox the TV fittings don't work over here, and i'm having a mare trying to find what i need!). I was well into Call Of Duty, but black ops kinda tarnished it, there was no longevity in it, and the online is ruined by hiders and snipers, becomes pointless. Gears Of War 3 looks like it's gonna be a beast of a game. The 360 needs a great car game, Forza looks the part, but is always too easy to master, one of the best was Grid, that was a great game, building a team, hiring co-drivers etc, really enjoyed it.
any off topic post, and we will get them, will be deleted, by off topic I mean porn, abuse and wumming
Page 2!! Cheers for the support Syd. BB, the thing I liked about games after Porsche Unleashed was the soundtracks. That was the only thing that redeemed U2 for me. Haven't played Fifa in ages, have been through Fifa 2000 ("The goalkeeper looks like he's swallowed a wasp!) Fifa 02, Fifa 02 Japan/Korea (loved the laser light thingies at night at the grounds, Petit was magnificent on that one), Fifa Euro 2004 demo (Paul Scholes scored my only ever goal, that demo was impossible. I celebrated like a lunatic!) Fifa 07 (PSP) Fifa 08 and planning to get 11 on my new laptop. The generic grounds always annoy me. I want to see our magnificent SoL! I mentioned this on 606, NBA has all the arenas, why can't Fifa have all the grounds for the top leagues? That's why PES has never done it for me. Wearside indeed. As for shooters, never liked them for some reason. Played Doom (who didn't? Ha), Quake 3, Desert Storm back in the day and they were too great a strain on my nerves. GTA is different though, rarely has me sweating and shaking like those shooters (apart from "Keep Your Friends Close" on VC, was so attached to the character that I was bricking it. Lance, you traitor!).
