You can have energy and physicality but with quality as well. We've seen with the likes of Allen, Henderson and Kuyt who are all energetic but don't really have the impact. And we seem to think that this is the norm. It's not - look at Vidal, Pogba, Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Suares etc etc etc. It's time to stop thinking that you have to be either energetic, or quality.
Not sure that Real saw this as a must win game. Nor did they take it so seriously as to put out their strongest side. A bit like let's say Scarborough against Chelsea in the cup. They may give Chelsea a good game but would Chelsea have put a strong motivated side? This is a must win for us. A draw would simply be not good enough. We need to go in there battling hard in a physical game and win very tackle, corner, header and all that. I will be worried if we score early and tried to defend that lead....we know what usually happens.
my only issue is the 3 behind Lambert utterly flopped v palace and showed no fight... therefore sterling must be rested and lallana shot. get me my willing runner in henderson. if he can't cut it then fine...

My thinking is the secure base behind them gives them the confidence to play we need to shore up that midfield and protect the defence but also have to attack Ludo and get goals. I'd have no problem with Hendo/Allen in the Coutinho role but I think that's giving them too much respect.
If i were john henry i'd offer him 10mil a year payable in one lump sum on may 31st but only if he manages to do one or two easy things... even tobes couldn't turn that down... me I'd do the job for peanuts as long as i could carry an axe at training.
maybe.... you might be right that way but equally they might just not have the physicality... but... the ref tonights going to be a european fusspot so they might play better in that regard..
