Brilliant Moving Gerrard to other positions is simply transferring the problem. It's like shifting Johnson to either flank. He's still sh*t. Believe it or not, Allen is a better midfielder than Stevie and has been for the past 1-2 years.
Fixed. But yes, we shouldn't underestimate Ludo. That said, we shouldn't overestimate them either. It's just really difficult to see us grinding out a result anywhere at the moment.
course he is but that doesn't make him actually good either. allen should play better in erurope but i feel he needs a can sized player with him to allow him to do what he does and not get involved in battling for the ball.
If Liverpool want to become a powerhouse again, winning titles on all fronts - then players like Allen and Henderson become squad players. At the moment, Henderson is seen as some midfield dynamo and whilst he's been good over the past year or so, he's still miles off top quality (even compared to players his own age) and I fear he doesn't have much more potential.
I disagree, Gerrard was important to us last season and played well throughout, this season has just been one too many he should be on the bench at the moment. I had high hopes of Allen, I thought he would help us control games and become an important player but he simply isn't good enough and although he's a good midfielder he is nothing more than that and imo should not be getting in the team.
this from the moment we screwed ourselves v basel we were up agaisnt it in this group and we've shown no desire to fight for the cause so this one looks beyond the "first team" my team would be; jones Manquillo Toure Lovern Moreno Lucas Can Allen Henderson Coutinho Lambert Its an adapted 4-1-2-2-1 formation where i want henderson pressing high up the pitch and working the right side. We need this badly. Coutinho is working on the left side and taksed with supporting lambert more closely. Allen is tasked with linking with moreno and allowing the lad to over alp on the left. allen is there to move laterally and get the ball off the likes of toure, lucas and lovern and get it moving forward. No mingolet, no johnson, no gerrard.... I'd sub on sterling, borini and if all else fails.... god.... I'd be thinking about lallana as well.... my order would prob be lallana for coutinho... desperation sub of lucas for borini and I'd hold sterling for can and drop henderson back in. For me there is zero reason why gerrard needs to get a game here. johnson should only be emergency injury sub. markovic has done nothing to get a game. Lets be honest here wisdom on loan = travesty. Sahko = injured or not playing for rodgers? Suso = never getting a game ibe = far more of the running type we need. 2 laons later can't we forget about buying a redmond????
so another lucas then in trier without the genuine quality needed? ie mascherano alonso etc. we got rid of spearing as he wasn't good enough, never fault him on commitment, just was ****e, but along with flanno we need that ****ing attitude in the team right now as they are playing like one big joke!
Gerrard wasn't that important to us last season - he took some great free kicks and scored important penalties. When you claim set pieces as a person's major strength, then it says it all - his contribution from open play was average, and he was carried by a world class attack. The Gerrard this season is no different to the one last season. Take Gerrard out last season and someone else would have taken the penalties and free kicks, and the chance of success is pretty much the same.
Seems reasonable. I'd be tempted to go with Migs and Skrtel over Jones and Lovren, as the Migs-Toure-Skrts combo worked fairly well against RM. Possibly also Lallana for Hendo for link-up with Lambert and given Hendo's form and any possibly remaing injury, but not sure I want both Lallana and Coutinho on from the start. We know it's not going to happen though. Brod won't rest players for this.

Couldn't disagree more, he was influential in all our play last season his passing was simply brilliant in open play and he was one of the reasons we did so well in attack. Yes at times his defending was not good enough but again thatshould have been dealt with by the manager changing the formation a little. This season his passing isn't there one more year just isn't in him and he needs to be rested as I think he'll benefit from it and be a great sub to bring on.
As much as everyone is entitled to an opinion and as bad as Mingo has been at times this season putting Jones in is just silly, he's an accident waiting to happen and a poor all round keeper that is not good enough for our bench. I'm no huge fan of Mingolet but he's nowhere near that bad.
Let's be right, in terms of this competition Ludogorets are ****e. You should be beating these playing in slippers ffs. If you don't get a result there tonight, you don't deserve to stay in the comp.
No bloody way that'll be the team but we can but hope, still not happy with Lambert in there but we just don't have anyone not even a youth player.
