Is this still going on? It was very funny yesterday watching the everton lads try so hard but fail so epically but today can we please focus on laughing at LFC's plight properly? I'm off to the CL thread for a right dust up. I hope those who can only dream of the cl like tobes, PJ and UiR can join me there for another day of giggles.

Thanks for humouring me and giving me examples of teams who progressed very quickly over the course of a few years.

It's a shame you disregarded my point about going from 7th to 2nd, increase of 23 points in ONE SEASON.

Juventus went from 7th to 1st, 1 place more than liverpool with 26 points increase. So yea, Juventus has set a precedent.

At the end of the day, You can go on about how managers like Big Sam, Moyes, Pullis are average managers having won nothing and that is how Rodgers will be remembered until he wins some silverware.

The difference is Rodgers will be remembered for winning nothing despite having the luxury of a massive transfer budget.

Yet again, you disregard the fact that I said what Liverpool had done was damn near unprecedented. It was very rare to see what we did, but you rightly picked one example. <ok>

But I do agree with you - Rodgers can't put 'Finished 2nd' on his CV. He will be judged on trophies. But taking a team from 7th to 2nd and getting us back into the CL after so long is quite remarkable. What we needed to do was BUILD on that.

My objectives was never to go and win the title this season. It was about consolidating our position in the top 4 whilst losing our best player and integrating a lot of new ones.

its funny when judging all things liverpool it can be done at anytime, but when we are playing good its lets wait until the end of the season bollocks and judge then.

shteve you also want to hope the same isnt said of LVG, as he has had £150 mill to spend without losing his key players in the process.

Yep, and he's failed to do that, despite being backed with considerable resources. I don't think that many actually thought you'd be in another title challenge this season, but most expected you to be a fairly safe bet for a top 4 place, and that looks a world away at present. He's got a major task on turning this around if you're going to achieve that goal.

I think it's a safe bet to say that you're not going to build on that 2nd place finish, even though it's only the end of November. I think everyone's seen enough of your current side to make that prediction, it's hardly bold.

    for sure tobes.

in the past when backs against the wall type bollocks, we have had the players to get us out the ****e, we have NO ONE of any note to do that now, and with what we have spent that is a ****ing shambles.

we was never going to realistically anyway tobes, everyone knows that, as Chelsea got what they needed from what went wrong last season, city have the players anyway,Arsenal brought well and utd had £150 mill to spend, so top 4 was even with luis a big ask, although more likely to have a chance of it happening if we kept him.

LVG has won plenty. Even if he fails at United he has nothing to prove.

And if you think he hasn't lost key players then you're off your tits pal! He's never been able to pick his preferred XI! Rodgers knew Suarez was leaving and had the money to replace him. It was his choice to spunk it on Balotelli, Lambert, Markofella, Lallana and the rest (it's actually quite depressing when you list them).

For years that man was Gerrard, then latterly it was Suarez, now? You're not wrong fella, you lack a player with sublime quality, and that's the first time you can say that in probably a decade.
