I wouldn't have minded Bent - however how would he have fit in with McGoldrick and Murphy? no way he could have been the focal point for me, Murphy would have been back to his days at LM! Ridiculous wages too.

Are we saying we wouldn't want Darren Bent in our team <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

I mean given his wages it isn't realistic but he'd be a great asset for us

Some of the comments on here are laughable indeed ptc, over the hill and lazy????
If would take Benty over any of our current squad, he will score goals in this div and would have been grt to see him up top with Didz and Murphy. I get the wages thing but i bet Brighton sint paying that much!!
I mean, some are happy with the Hunt signing but wouldnt want Bent, pffff, i must be missing something here!!

The only reason Insaid not a chance was because of his wages, I would love to see him back here otherwise!

I know, was not aimed at you mate!! Warky, thinking Bent is over the hill but Hunt is a good signing is just plain crazy, especially as Hunt is older than Bent, work that one out!!!!

Benty will always be a hero at PR but that was a long time ago, would he work well with MMs insistence on workrate? would he fit in with other players earning far less than him? If he cant get motivated in the Prem how would he feel about getting lumps kicked out of him in the Championship? So its good luck Benty at Brighton and he will always get a very warm welcome from Town fans no matter who hes playing for, hes not coming here so lets leave it there.

Well where do you propose Darren Bent plays? Murphy is in the form of his life as the central striker, take Murphy out of this role and put Bent in the middle?! I guess people who want Bent would want him as the focal with Murphy + McGoldrick behind. Murphy's top scorer!

Bent HAS become incredibly lazy. Ask any Fulham/ Villa fan. That said, would you be busting a gut when on 80k a week for a manager who won't play you despite losing every single game?! No I wouldn't bother either.

We don't need Darren Bent and he is certainly not the player that he once was! <ok>

Personally I have found McGoldrick to be a yard or two of the pace this season and he definitely hasn't had the 'clever' impact he had last season. Bent knows where the net is and Murphy has played the hold up role before aswell as having other aspects to his game so if wages etc where feasible I would like the idea of having those 3 as our striking options (McG will revive his spark Im sure). A natural goalscorer, a clever player and a big man with an eye for goal sounds like it has nearly every option we could ask for in it. For 5 years we have been moaning about a lack of an instinct striker and now because we have a player on form some on here are suggesting that that need has disappeared. Personally I think it is still a requirement.

I think that Goldy is not getting the plaudits he did last season more because as a team we are playing better and he is not standing out so much, I still think he is a very good and effective player.

Nothing against DmcG Weighty, just don't think he has reached full fitness, He seems to be puffing a bit this season. In all honesty my comments would still stand even if he was playing with the swagger he had last season as I think Bent would give another dimension.
