Something for the jumps fans to think back to:

I remember thinking how unimpressive I thought Fingal Bays chase debut and defeat to Dynaste were at the time. However, I rewatched this evening and he was excellent but for idling after the final fence! Jumped really well.

He had a one-off when he ran out at Exeter and remember that Philip Hobbs thought he might be the best he had trained after his defeat of Simonsig (although Henderson maintains something was not right with Simonsig that day)

The form of the Hobbs team is solid and one would think he is in with a good chance with Smad Place, Many Clouds, and Djakadam.

This is a very interesting horse and a big price for it possibly Boris. I can't seem to find his form as it appears to be in Morocco, which may be questionable. His last race however in Chantilly looks solid enough for this level. I think it's one of those which could end up the best bet of the day or quite easily the worst. Good Luck, I may join you in it tomorrow but will sleep on it.

Toppy re Fingal Bay - I have loved this horse since his novice hurdle days, made me a very tidy packet which I then duly lost when he got chinned by Lovcen at Aintree (ouch, still hurts to this day). I was convinced at the time that Hobbs had a future Gold Cup winner on his hands, he always had the scope to make a really top chaser and I was so excited when they went novice chasing with him. I think it was clear he ran into a really good one in Dynaste on debut and then there was that disaster at Exeter where, as Hobbs himself admits, no one really knows what happened. It was great to see him back out last season and I was thrilled with him winning the Pertemps. With hindsight the World Hurdle at Punchestown was always going to be a big ask but he was far from disgraced. I think the decision to go back to fences is the right one and I will be backing him with my heart on Saturday. Looks to have got in off a nice mark.

I agree Boris & Blue, first runner from the Pascal Bary barn to cross the channel in at least 5 years, must have some sort of chance? Also the jockey Cristian Domuro aint too shabby, rode a winner for Mr Balding @ Ascot in 2012 Shergar cup.
Banker or Blow-out? @ 18/1 for a Win & 3/1 for a place on Betfair, I think the risk is worth taking!

Morning, you types. So who do we reckon will be in front once the slaps on the rump and kicks in the belly have been adminstered?!? Or now THAT man is back repeated and brutal slaps on the rump and kicks in the belly have been adminstered?!?

Dear old Lamps is out again today. This time at Fonters Park (1.40). However, it’s no more than a watching brief for me re him today as these days he looks one for claiming and selling races not handicaps. His current perch looks rather high and when opting for claiming and selling races his shrewd stable can pick races to easily expolit. Back him back in these grades, troops. However, no-one will be more delighted than me, in fact I’ll holler with delight, should the old boy pop up this afternoon.

Those looking for a wager though might want to have a look at Mr Charlton’s SAMPLE, not yet decided if this is a lovely name for a filly, who debuts this eve at Kempers Park (5.15). She’s exceptionally well bred as the dam is a half-sister to a French Oaks winner. The barn know how to prepare one to oblige first time up whilst the heat itself doesn’t look the strongest maiden ever run. Current quotes of 7/2 appear more than fair, therefore. Sample is owned by Her Majesty, God bless her and save her, and let’s hope that I can lead my regular readers, in a march and a salute, to the old payout window following this race.

    Good luck, pilgrims.

In my Tracker before his last run with the remark "back it until it loses" ...

Well it won for me last time so I have to go with it again - Grendisar 18-45 Kempton

Good luck to the players <ok>

Beef stew with broccoli side, wedges and a roll. 8/10 (not a dumpling in sight :()

Hang your head in shame Sir Barney - "THAT man" indeed. AP back with a winner from his only ride today, lovely price 2/1 against the odds-on jolly.

Oddy, I had beef stew yesterday. Although whoever cooked it should hang their heads in shame for serving it with no dumplings. Poor with a capital ‘P’.

Really fancy MAJOR JACK at Kempton tonight. I was at Lingfield when it ran last week and it looked an unlucky loser.

Some people have no decorum do they? Beef stew without dumplings is like Gin without tonic or Henley without Pimms. Intolerable.
