De Gea isn't just a shot stopper though, he hasn't made a mistake yet. He is able to pass the ball from a goal kick, good with his feet (much like VDS) His reflexes are amazing I just never saw any significant faults with his game. He was also amazing at saving penalties (as Milito, Trezeguet and Nakamura found out)

Yes Casillas is by far the best keeper in the world but even he has said how good De Gea will become. HOnestly you have bought a world class keeper who WILL become the best

Don't compare James to De Gea who cost over 18m. He is going to be one of the best keepers in the world. I understand peoples desperation to have a dig at Utd for signing a young keeper. However, if you are good enough you are old enough and he is good enough. Is he as good as VDS? NO. However, he is the future and I am sure he will do well.

Swarbs come on. De Gea is not as good as VDS. Therefore, as De Gea is our new 1st choice, this means we are weaker than last season in the number 1 spot for GK. As for Jones. We are weaker than last season as Rio is less likely to start games and he is better than Jones. Therefore, we are even weaker than last season. However, these young signings have great futures and will add to the squad but in terms of starting 11. I would say we are weaker. Also with the likes of Scholes leaving and no new cm field in sight with pre season training soon, I would say we are weaker there in terms of starting 11 and squad as Giggs is older and will naturally be worse and Fletcher does not look on the same level as b4 and Anderson gets injured far too much. I would say going into next season we are marginally worse.

Improved as in what? Scholes, Hargreaves and van der Sar have all left. Out of them 3 we have lost one player from out First (strongest) 11. We have signed De Gea who isn't really an improvement on van der Sar but you tell me who would have been? Not many people and anybody who is certainly wouldn't have been for sale. Young and Jones are definite improvements on the squad though. Jones will come in for an aging Brown and Young is a great option off the bench, better than Obertan or Bebe who we had coming off the bench. I think one more player will be brought in and he will be a midfielder. I think it could be Nasri and that will certainly stand us in good stead for next season.
