I'm of the opinion he would have done something again and damaged the club further, it's very hard to say no as he was a brilliant player but I had simply had enough and wanted him gone.
Keeping him and getting CL football for another two or three season would have been worth a lot more. that was never a option though.
I may like to add that Suarez won't work at Barca until they allow him to come into the middle some point during the game. He's being asked to swap with Neymar on the wings and he isn't a wingers. At liverpool we let him go wherever and it was up to him what he felt best, right now he is being told where to go and it just won't work, especially with his unpredictablity he brings,
it would have been better than that as well, he would have had more impact on us attracting QUALITY!!! players to our club, than anyone we currently have could manage.
I saw his debut for them and he was playing centrally then, Messi had been asked to play on the right with Neymar to the left Barca fans weren't happy about Messia being moved to accommodate him, can't say I blame them either TBH
Pretty much what I was getting at. Yes, we'd get the CL income but that would have taken three seasons to generate the same cash amount. I was thinking more of the enhanced popularity within Europe and improve reputation enabling us to recruit better players and thus, becoming a better team. Such a shame Luis was and still is a ****
Bring him back in January and with 19/20 games gone he'll finish top scorer top assists top twat and we'll miss out on the league by goal difference.
thing is, this club reputation being damaged, is that really going to have an effect on anything? Sponsorship? Possibly, but no publicity is bad publicity as they say. Signings? I think they'd rather play with a troubled Suarez than a team without him. Fans? We stick with the club through thick and thin.
I think the other was Jimmy but I could be wrong, can't be arsed to read back. Exactly. Sponsors might not like us having a **** as our star man but I'm sure they'd choose that and CL football over sponsoring relegation fodder
Haha I said it more in jest. Of course I would take him back - he would instantly raise intensity levels. Problem is, we will always be scared that the next bad thing he does and he's banned for years. But my original statement is true - without Suarez, the frauds of last season are now well and truly exposed.
I don't entirely agree with that. Despite doing well last season, Gerrard and Johnson got plenty of stick. Enricky, Skrtel, Lucas, Migs, Allen, etc all got criticised too. The mood was better beause we were winning but feel free to ask the likes of Saint how annoying it was coming on here after a win and seeing people moaning, complaining and criticising certain aspects of that game. And it was after every game still too!
It was more to do with the media than normal fans. They constantly had their tongues up Stevie's ar*e all the time and genuinely believed he was world class in the Pirlo role. It's laughable. You probs remember when I kept saying people's opinion of Skrtel was swayed by him scoring around 10 goals last season - again the media kept talking about that all the time but never really discussed the fact he's mediocre. Johnson just escapes criticism from all media and they all believe he's England's best right back still lol. But overall, certain players didn't get anywhere near the level of criticism their performances deserved. As you say, it was hidden behind the fact we were happy we scored goals and won games. ----------------------- P.S I probs was one of those people moaning after every game because it was so clear to see that the defence and DM would cost us big time, and it did eventually. A world class attack with a Sunday league defence. If we had a proper DM throughout the season, we would have walked the league.
No- for the same reason I was relieved he went in the first place. Great player- one of the best I've seen for a long time, and in one sense I hated to see him go- but you just knew he'd do something stupid, yet again, before long. Then the authorities would **** on him from a great height, he'd get something like a season or two ban and we wouldn't be able to play him or get rid of him. We did the best thing to get mega-bucks for him while he was worth it, it's our own fault our signings haven't come up to scratch. Yet.
This is probably were you and I get a difference of opinion on tbh. I couldn't give two monkeys what the media or pundits are saying, most of my comments around how players or managers are perceived are based on what people say on here. The media still sunk Stevie's wang now despite us being ****e this season Same goes for our difference of opinion of Skrtel. I kept saying people don't judge defenders on goals and constantly pulled you up on that remark but if you're basing it on media say so then I now understand why you said it
This board is pretty good for opinions so I have a lot of respect for members. But the media do drive me wild, so much to the point where I think everyone is brainwashed by their nonsense. And it doesn't help when we have ex players talking crap as well.
