At times like this, it's understandable that your faith and commitment to the club is sorely tested. It boils down to your love of LFC.

Some people. like me, had it easy. Born in the City. Dad supported them. Grandad supported them. No-brainer.

Saint. Born in the city, but Dad didn't support them, so a more complex dynamic there.

But what about some of you with none of those links - Greez gonzo etc?

Why did you choose to love Liverpool FC and will you ever disown them in difficult times?

At times like this, it's important we remember exactly why we love the club as we do <ok>

I have no real connection to LFC and I actually can't remember why I picked them. If anything, my favourite footballer when I was young was Robbie Fowler and we share the same birthday.

Would never disown the club - times like this do make me angry and passionate (as does a lot of other fans) but that's because we care. I may lose faith in players, rather than 'disown' some players (disown is a strong word) i.e. Skrtel, Johnson, Gerrard etc and even the manager but never the club.

  3. Is it...? Can't say I feel like my commitments been tested. Liverpool through thick or thin no matter the results. Yes, the current form is not nice but I can honestly say that my love for the club never entered a seconds worth of doubt. I'd be supporting exactly the same if we were relegated to the conference.

I don't really get pissed off at losses anymore. I only get pissed off if we play poorly and show no effort against expectation. ATM, I expect us to be **** every game. That doesn't mean I like or accept it, I just live with it and hope things improve.

My Dad [love him, miss him] was a passionate Evertonian but me and my brother both support Liverpool, I followed my brother and don't know why he chose Liverpool over Everton [we're going back to 2nd division days here] maybe it was his peers, I've never asked him. But like G says, I've never had my commitment tested. We got on the roller coaster of our own free will, I'm enjoying the ride - got to say the ups are far better than the downs though!

    I hate us right now <grr> <laugh>

Question for you RHC? If the owners moved LFC out of Liverpool would you still love them the same? Is it the "club" that we love...or is it the association with the city too? Not suggesting it will ever happen, just interested as to where the line is....what (if anything) could break the bond?

That's an impossible question for me as the two are so inextricably linked. I'll always love the city and I'll always love the club, but in my mind, one is a function of the other and vice versa

My grandad (also love him and miss him) was a big Liverpool fan. Then my mum was and then me and my sister. And then my daughter will be and then my grandchildren, hopefully

My grandad was my father figure for first 7 years of my life so its no suprise really

And no, of course never desert them! Like others have mentioned BR is frustrating the hell out of everyone at the minute for a number of reasons, the club will always be your team though

They chose you dont they? Its in the blood as they say

But I'd feel no emotional connection to a team that played in Warrington or Runcorn (god forbid). I'd never go again if we weren't located in the 'pool.

Devout since 2005 but really leaning toward Southampton right now, proper team them!......... :bandit:

How crap are we now though? <laugh> For those getting really pissed....... we have been down this road in 02 and 09 after finishing second. All very different circumstances on why we did not push on, but writing was on the wall a bit.

It wouldn't be the same though <ok> not for me mate.

As RHC said....the club and city are inextricably linked. If that bond was broken then my bond would be too.

    Good vid tho :)

We had that entire debate over the proposed move to Kirkby and of course opinion was split. I wasn't arsed as I still considered Kirkby to be 'scouse' anyway, despite the boundary line. However, had it been Runcorn I might have had a different view, which is largely illogical. It really brings up strong emotions in people, as the match isn't just about the team, it's about the entire experience and the many memories that we have off the back of our experiences over the years.

I became a Liverpool fan when I was a young lad, no football links in my family nobody was interested, Liverpool were successful and as a child with nobody pushing me either way I just started watching them and loved the way they played and the players they had at the time (Kenny, Rush etc).

As I grew up football bacame more important to me and that bond with Liverpool grew, I love Liverpool FC and have done so for over 30 years. Tough at the moment but we've been through it before.

  19. See, I'd understand that more if it was like yesteryear when the players were mainly locals too. However, in this day and age they come from all over the world so its not really a local team.
