    Committee wanted Lacazette.
    Rodgers wanted Bony.
    Balotelli was the compromise.

FSG have Rodgers too much control this summer.

I'd keep the committee because they have identified some very good young talents in MAnquillo, Moreno, Can, Coutinho, Sturridge (led to believe that the committee wanted him) and MArkovic (though we are yet to see this).

They need a DoF to lead them. Let Rodgers coach and develop players.

Cortese would be a very good CEO, instead of Ayre.

Someone mentioned Ronchi (Sevilla) and Capello as potential DoF's.

    Oh, completely agree.

Getting a DoF is just one part of the restructure that is required.

We need more coaches - Renee Muelensteen and Chris Woods (GK) are both out of work and both are top class coaches. Rodgers really needs to get the help he needs.

3 years and the defence is getting worse. He simply does not have a clue about defending - and there is no shame in that. All of the top managers have a large number of backroom staff supporting them. I read somewhere that Rodgers has one of the smallest backroom staff.

How can a manager not pick who he wants to sign?

He picked Mario and now can't get a goal from him for love or money. He picked Borini and wanted rid....Lambert, fair play to him and i am glad he got his dream move and has scored, I think he could get 20 if played this season.

Not familiar with the Sporting/Technical Director role?

And no to Lambert - he's an average footballer. The only way he could get 20 goals is if he takes all free kicks and penalties.

That all falls at the feet of the manager, his one world class player helped drag the club to a great finish and now they all look like League 1 players! So if he is so much better than moyes, where is the reaction to losing his star man....Moyes dragged a side containing Weir, pistone, carsley and kilbane to 4th.

If that doesn't make him a hit in comparison to Rodgers i dont know what he needs to do......**** golden eggs FFS!

you forgot about our other missing player from last season, who is currently injured!

you lot are happy about moyes getting you out of relegation battles more times than i can remember, we get it, but he managed a top 4 finish 1 time in 11 yrs ffs, brendan got us runners up in the league in his 2nd season with us.

what does he need to do, bit like rafa to get credit where its due, **** golden eggs as well!!!

My mistake, you are a two man side....well back to a one man side! a man your manager has injured more than Hodgeson. How many relegation scraps did we survive in Moyes time.....Again I will point you to the face we spent less per year than teams we finished above time and time again and were in the EL.

If Rodgers can make top four this season I will lavish him with praise, however his loss of his key man/men has him floundering at the lower reaches after nearly 1/3rd of the season has passed.

Moyes lost his key man and got 4th<ok>

The difference between a committee and this role would be?

They would still have a different view on what the team needs in comparison to what the manager wants.

I suggest you go and look at most continental sides, and also the most successful sides in the history of football and you'll see that they have DoF's who have their team of scouts (i.e. committee) who look after player recruitment. The 'managers' of these teams are not called managers, they are first team coaches. They have little say in the matter other than identify areas of weakness. <ok>

end of season finish, yet judge brendan in nov?

not going to get top 4 finish this season any way ffs, finishing 2nd is still better than a top 4 finish.

funny we had people use that to laugh at rafa and saying it wasn't good, now suddenly top 4 finish is great.

i think sterling was key as well, but don't know yet if it was the 3 of them that worked together so well, or if he can still be good with sturridge in the team, havent seen a lot of it this season yet to judge.

but be surprised if we got top 4, i think we should aim top 6 and anything else is a fecking bonus at the mo, ****ing shambles.

That was with a player you classed as one of the top 5 in the world right now....we managed 4th with players such as Carsley and Hibbert!

Can Rodgers manage 4th with a more expensively assembled squad that only lost one player while adding over £100m of 'talent'

You seem to think not, so is a 2nd place finish that good when you back it up with failure to back it up?

Too much pressure on Sterling at the moment and he's simply being marked out of the game.

Defenders aren't worried about Mario, Lambert or Lallana.
