According to an article in the mail we certainly aren't the quietest fans and the KC is second (joint) in the list of loudest stadiums. That should put that one to bed then
I certainly don't think we're one of the quieter grounds. There are a few grounds where a noisy area like our North and East doesn't exist. West Brom is one and Stoke is another. Although Stoke are odd cos they get loud in all areas when they score or when they don't like the ref or whatever, they just don't have any dedicated singers.
It was mentioned on another thread, and the figures they produced are absolute meaningless pap as far as noise measurement goes. It's also nonsense to claim noise is atmosphere. We could have some numpty with a drum and 6,000 babies crying. It'd be noisy, but it would hardly back the team or be 'atmospheric'. As they haven't mentioned the frequency, it could even be a dog whistle that's measured, yet is inaudible. AND...none of it shows the stand move was a success because the noise and atmosphere was quite likely to have increased with the feel good factor that existed. The danger with the desperate attempts to claim things are okay, is it misses several key elements for the future, a prime one is we're losing longer term fans and they're being replaced by spectators and customers, and they're liable to disappear again if we're less than average. I've seen it before, where people that have observed but not fully experienced something, feel they know best and think they're experts. Let's just focus on points of agreement instead of a desperate clamour to try to justify past decisions, the atmosphere can be improved.
On Sunday the only SKY mics which pick up the crowd noise on the East Stand side were placed in front of the Spurs fans. The KC is not a quiet stadium and there are far, far worse then ours. In fact I agree that we are one of the noisiest. Anfield and the Emirates are awfull, Manufactured noise at the start of the game and that's it until someone scores a goal. Imagine how noisy the KC would be if we were actually winning games ?
I thought the atmosphere at the Emirates wasn't bad this season, last season at Anfield was absolutely terrible though, probably the worst support at any game we were involved in.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...dest-country-does-club-sit-decibel-table.html Ignore the title an scroll down to the bottom. All this talk of the lack of atmosphere at the KC and we're the joint 2nd loudest ground and almos mid table in fan volume. Don't know how reliable this is, but interesting none the less. Maybe the switch to the north has helped us! Although its only measured over a small amount of time, at least it acknowledges we can get behind the team when we want. (study seems pretty useless though, but good press is always nice)
IMO its louder in the north stand then it was in the east stand. Hoping the ultras move into N5 next season so we can have the nosiest sections together. I am so pleased we have moved to the north stand ....can't speak for everyone but many I have spoke to love being in N4....(quite a few wasn't sure about the move at first ) I think the Quiet north standers should go in n1
So, if we are the second loudest ground but mid table for fans does this mean the loudness refers to the tannoy system? Or the noise made by catering staff clinking cups together? If the fans referred to are our own and we are mid table then the loudness in the ground must mean the away fans are louder than our own.
Just shows how bad it is in the premier league in general , I don't think anybody is saying it is just a problem at the KC
I'm looking for the thread you made Dutch, the other week ,or So, about organising Singers for the East / north stands, to Improve atmosphere. How's that going.?
CTWD picked up on the ideas and say they copied all the ideas off the board and discussed them. They are currently asking for more ideas to put to the club, hopefully at the next fans group meeting.
