All clubs have bought players that were good for other clubs but can't seem to produce the goods for their new club. .But Rodgers really needs to get it right in january or he will be in trouble. His job is safe at this time as you can't discount what he has achieved since his appointment but it all depends now on how well he buys in january window.
To follow on this ... at 'Pool, there was an issue when Rogers was appointed as to his role and level of authority when it came to player transfers and who he reported to, etc. This was resolved obviously but I don't think it's clear how, and in this context what his duty is and responsibilities are with respect to player transfers and what falls in the lap of others. Rogers is obviously responsible for getting the most out of the squad he has to work with - isn't this the primary metric that he will be evaluated under and will cast his fate.
i for one have nothing but high regard for Rodgers, but at Swansea he had a limited (very) and went and looked for players that suited our system and just couldnt sign players ad hoc. He seems to have done a bit of a Mark Hughes (at QPR), In that he has money so i better spend it. He has just gone out players that have performed for their club and not necessarily fit a system he wants to play. He also signed to many players almost a new team, yet he never replaced Suarez. In my opinion he should have looked at 2 Suarez type players and gone for them (I know he would be very hard to replicate). I still believe that you massively overachieved last season. Given time I think BR will improve things, but I dont believe he is the one to take you to a title. He has to be given till the end of the season.
Rodgers isn't the problem...... ........but the Liverpool press and fans, over-estimation of the current squads capabilities, is. Liverpool are a mid-table club suffering from delusions of grandeur. Their only hope of Europe next season is a back-door qualification into the Europa league. See Arsenal are after Gomis http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2847265/Arsenal-interested-Swansea-s-Bafetimbi-Gomis-Crystal-Palace-Newcastle-monitoring-striker.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 wont be long before we read about his imminent signing for Liverpool
Would you be disappointed to see Gomis go. I am not sure I would be. maybe the Comment by monk in that he is looking for a striker in January due to Bony in the ACofN holds a bit of water if Gomis is on his way as well.
Wouldn't be disappointed re his play TLF but would be disappointed in as much as 'someone' has left us. I don't think he'll go and I seriously doubt Arsenal are interested at all. My remark was just a cheap side-swipe at the bullsh*t amateur press and the bullsh*t amateur stories we all have to endure these days; a good example, The Bony Saga's. "he's definitely 'signing for Liverpool/Tottenham/Arsenal' don't you know. Oh no, he's signed an extension, who can we write crap about now? Gomis! I think Monk was non committal re strikers TLF. Monk said, if I recall correctly, 'we're always looking'. I don't think he was being specific at all, may be wrong there though.
Suarez nearly won the league last season. Had he not played they'd be close to the same position they're in now.
No probs selling Gomis , making some money , getting someone else in on more reasonable wages .Gomis was a panic buy imo , because the club thought Bony was leaving .Sell one of them in January with Emnes ready to slot in and pick up the slack and if a good value striker comes up in the January window , buy !
Sure he does. Subtract a ton of goals and replace them with very few. The numbers take care of themselves. Use 'Pools goal difference without Suarez' goals and with those of the muppets they acquired to replace him and slot that goal difference into today's table. They'd be roughly where they are now.
31 goals scored from team total of 99 means he scored nearly a 3rd , and considering he was missing for ten games for snacking on the pitch then I'd say the numbers add up .
Just look for yourself. Take away Suarez' goals from last season and adjust the points accordingly....simple maths really! He was clearly a major influence on where they finished. BR has been given time and money. Sadly I don't think it will last for him....possibly won't see the transfer window.
take away Suarez. Why ? he was part of liverpool for a few seasons not just one. Its like you saying take away Rooney from man utd or take away bony from us, If they are not there then somebody else will be and you cant say what would have happened as you cant possibly know what Might have been...
But we do know what has been ... Suarez is gone, minus 31 goals and look where they are without him. Talking about "has been" .... blarney boy is now assuming responsibility, which is not adviseable under any circumstances, because if there are others in the back office culpable they will hide behind that admission.
