Time has told us that Rodgers is a reactionary not a forward thinker. This is not sticking the boot in, but he is one dimensional - suarez goes so he thinks like a fan rather than as a football manager, and only focuses on replacing his goals rather than any vision for what's best for the club going forward.

The manager's head is firmly rooted up his arse and he's too busy giving off (muffled) soundbites of nonsense managerial speak.

'I've always worked along the statistic, that if you can dominate the game with the ball you have a 79 per cent chance of winning a game of football.'

'I always say a squad is like a good meal. I'm not a great cook, but a good meal takes a wee bit of time. But also, to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.'

'When we have the football everybody's a player. The difference with us is that when we have the ball we play with 11 men, other teams play with 10 and a goalkeeper.'

'Look at Tottenham. If you spend more than £100million, you expect to be challenging for the league.'

'They don't have to sell. They have a choice. Maybe Southampton's objectives have changed. They were looking to be a Champions League club, I believe.'

'The last 18 months we have been on a magic carpet ride of development but we still have a lot of growth to make.'

    Liverpools issues are many fold:

    - Poor transfers. Done to death, average players, players who don't fit philosophy (see strikers), too many players to integrate
    - Rodgers arrogance/stubborness? first/last season, I gave him big kudos. He changed his first 6 months tiki taka barcelona-lite boring football from swansea and moved to a more counter attacking football with coutinho and suarez. It suited sterling, coutinho, suarez and sturridge to the T. Break fast, hit them fast and once with the lead, keep it, draw the team out and hit them again. This season, sturridge is injured, Suarez has gone and he's trying to play the same way except the team can't do this with the personnel. It actually looks 4 times worse as the team also has no confidence. He needs to grind some games out but seems to not get this and is keeping to his new found philosophy.
    - Same players who are being played who are out of form/****. Main culprits, Gerrard, Lovren, Johnson
    - Lack of attack/Lack of defence. Similar to above with his philosophy and it not working. Attack is blunt so at least do not concede. Your wing backs go forward to provide width, your centre back partnership as well as not suiting each other (no idea what Lovren is but Skrtel is a deep player trying to play highline) lack chemistry and are exposed non stop by a lack of a defensive midfielder or two (Gerrard cannot play there!).
    - Set pieces. These have not been rectified in all his time he's been there. Is that to do with a small team? lack of training? No commanding keeper?

Anyway take your pick from the above.
