Sorry, I haven't read all the thread and this might have already been said: Firstly, we should have been 4-1 up before Brighton got their second. Jerome missed a very straightforward header and then, even worse in my opinion, we were 3 against 1 defender + keeper and criminally failed to convert - Johnson chose to shoot instead of passing to Grabban. You cannot blame NA for these two incidents. Secondly, the players give the opposition hope with their body language on the pitch - ambling up to corners and free kicks, slow to take them, passing sideways and backwards, poor decision making, lack of concentration. A great example of not being at it was one of the Brighton kick-offs where matey just drove the ball straight forward through, well, no-one really until he got near the penalty area and was stopped. I am hoping and anticipating that Mike Phelan will address this and get us moving again.
Turner also headed wide from a set piece when you'd really expect a tall, dominant CB to hit the target from that sort of range.
I was also annoyed by the casualness of some players throughout the game, especially those who came down from the PL. This may be why relegated teams struggle, as players fail to find the same concentration and intensity levels against lesser opposition. Derby and Watford and others don't have that problem. Howson, Martin and Redmond were an exception to this though.
Only saw game on Sky highlights,so cannot comment on whole game. We were certainly too slow in closing down player for their 2nd, The penalty was a joke "tackle",Why tackle when their player is on the edge of box, with his back to goal, going nowhere!!! I am Johnson biggest fan,but his poor selection of shooting when we were 3 on 1 was pathetic, and his verbal abuse and face to face confrontation with the ref who sent him off was a disgrace to our Club. Ruddy was poor on Goals 1 and 2. Time for some hungry players to move up.
Like many others on here I am getting thoroughly pissed off with the hysterical negativity that has come out of the woodwork. People who did nothing but moan before the season started disappeared when we were at or near the top but have now returned with a vengeance. Are you sods only happy if you have something to complain about? I was at Carrow Road on Saturday and saw an entertaining game resulting in a 3-3 draw. I then came on here and thought I had been to a different game. It's a disaster - sack the Board, sack the Manager, don't even let Phelan near the place!! At the start of the game we were 2 points off the play offs and 5 points off the top 2 - after the game we were exactly the same - why the hysteria? The start of the season was down to just luck - really? Adams tactics are clueless - we scored 3 and should have scored AT LEAST 3 more. Nothing wrong with the attacking tactics then and unless NA or Delia nipped on the pitch and replaced players at the crucial time they cannot be responsible for easy chances being missed. Defensively we conceded 3 goals and in all 3 the defensive set up was sound. Ollsen was in the right place but went to sleep, Ruddy was in the right place but made an error, our CB made an unnecessary challenge when the Brighton player was going nowhere due to a sound defensive set up. How was that Adam's or Delia's fault? You say we have the best squad in the league and should be top of the table but Adams doesn't know what he is doing but Adams brought in the ' best squad in the league ' so he must know something!!! Things can change quickly - ask Alan Pardew. Forest were in our position 2 games ago with unhappy fans and calls for the Manager to be sacked - 2 games later all is happiness. Teams in the bottom 3 at Christmas have ended up being promoted - we are only 2 points away. Lets see where we are in January before continuing with this mass hysteria.
The only negative thing that struck me on Saturday was the team's reaction to Hooper. When you are 3-2 down at home with minutes to go and equalise, the scorer usually disappears under a group of excited team-mates. Hooper got 2 handshakes and a pat on the back - anybody else notice that?
Now you mention it, yes. As we love a good - if totally unfounded conspiracy theory on this forum, may I suggest a) he's not the most popular dude in the dressing room or b) they know he's on his way in January
I thought it odd too - compare that to the players reaction to Rusty's thunderbolt. To be honest, Hooper didn't seem all that bothered either.
To be honest if it had been the final kick of the game then he might have been mobbed, however there was plenty of time left to nick a winner so I quite like the fact they didn't go mental and treat it as 'job done', as obviously we should be looking to take all three points from games like that.
I agree. Rusty's goal put us ahead and Hooper's put us even again in a game we should have won. they were right to get on with it. Give Hooper a start on Saturday and things will change.
I can see where you are coming from Munky and Rick but I didn't notice any great urgency to get back and get on with it. It just struck me as the sort of flat celebration you get if you are 6-0 down and score a consolation goal. I agree that it will be strange if Hooper doesn't start next game even though I still think he is carrying a bit of extra timber. Ooops - I'm being negative - have to stop that.
after hooper's goal (beautifully finished by the way) they picked the ball up and ran back (a couple of quick acknowledgments along the way) to the centre circle to try and get a winner. absolutely nothing to see here.
To be honest, you sound more hysterical than most. By the way, Adams inherited the best squad in the Division and we should be near the top All your doing is labelling individual players and their errors. It is Adams job to eradicate those errors AND scenarios for those errors to occur. Its happening to often to too many players.
They were too good to go down under Hughton now they are too good not to go up first attempt. Derby are better than us and they have a joke of a manager to most England fans.
I am saying that we have some very average players that were not good enough to survive the drop and even at a lower level they look very average. Derby are better than us and their players are performing much better than ours with a questionable manager. To say our squad is better than Derby's at this stage is groundless.
To imply Steve Mclaren, former England manager, winner of the Dutch title, League cup winner and understudy to Alex Ferguson is not better than Adams is where the true groundless argument is made. It also explains the league positions.
i tipped derby at the start of the season simply because of mcclaren! is their squad better than ours? not in my opinion - ours is better - but they definitely have a better manager and he's got them ticking along nicely, playing good football and playing as a team. i think we'd be strolling along at the top of the division were he in charge of our team.
Experienced strikers can't put the ball in the net from a few yards. An international GK lets the ball go under his body. An international defender. in the right place, ball watches and forgets the danger behind him etc etc. How the hell does any Manager eradicate those errors?
