Ah this is interesting from Howard Webb.

 

It'd be good to see Reed get some time on the pitch tonight, not seen much of the lad and would be nice to see another youngster shine. Plus, stick him in the spotlight, another 30 mill in the summer would be useful.

Carragher is driving me mad though. Webb is trying to say that a ref may not give a card for a 50-50 situation, but may eventually have to give a card if things don't calm down. Caragher wants consistency even if that means handing out yellow cards for every offence starting from the first minute of the game.

 

Well, that's certainly one way of getting discipline on the field...

 

Typical player mentality that.

 

When is MNF going to start talking about the actual game? Is this normal (been a while since I caught a Monday night game)

 

A good ref maintains discipline whilst trying to keep the game going...this can result in him using discretion and players yelling like kids..It's not fair. A game played by human beings is not always going to be black and white...even if it is your team, you have to accept it.

They've talked about us before when other teams have played so we can't complain.

 

Neville and Carragher ambushed Webb then, but this is what is frustrating for players and fans. What is wrong with Webb being able to say "maybe the red got they wrong" (talking about Wilshere head butt incident)?

There would be far more respect if they came out and said that 'with benefit of hindsight' MAYBE a decision was wrong.

He obviously can't/doesn't want to criticise his ex-colleagues. I wouldn't either in his shoes.

Wilshere was very lucky there...he was saved only by being shorter than Fellaini. I've seen red cards given for smaller head movements than that.
