I honestly think we can get something out of this game. The injury list is horrendous though. Half the squad out injured....

I think we can get something too, and I think confidence is so good through the squad that we will give a decent account despite the injuries.

I've seen the next two games (West ham & Burnley away) described elsewhere as games we should be expecting to win. I disagree that we should expect it, especially with West Ham. I can't stand Fat Sham, but you can't deny he's got them performing this season. They are 6th on merit and they should be favourites. It will take a good performance to beat them. The good news is that we seem to be putting in good performances so we have a chance of getting something.

I'm going to go for 0-1.

2-1 defeat and bubble :)wink:) burst. Cue calls for Pardew to get out of the ****ing club and being informed that the recent run was pure luck and flukey.

Seriously I think West Ham look good. However I do think if we can get a strong side out we have a good chance. They tend to be very attacking this season, often having 3 or 4 forwards on the pitch. This means they are tailor made for our counter attacking style. We will need the players though. If we are some way off full strength I'll stick to 2-1 them, if we can add two or three to those who played Saturday, I'll go for a 3-1 win.

Read somewhere that Tiote, Abeid, Saylor & Rivierre should all be back.

If so I'd line up like this:

    Krul

    Janmaat, Saylor, Dummett, Haidara

    Tiote Colback

    Gouffran Sissoko Sammy

    Cisse

Obviously Abeid, Cabella & Perez are noticable absentees there but West Ham are a very physichal team and I think it'll be very much about staying in the game early doors. We're going to be up against Carroll, Collins, Reid, Kouyate, Song etc, all big, quick and strong. I'd play on the counter as we have been and if we get in front then bring on Cabella & Perez to play on the break or similarly if we're chasing them game then they'll offer a decent attacking threat.

I'm normally one for championing people such as Abeid & Perez keeping their places based on good performances but for me that would be naive for this game. We have Burnely only a few days later so I'd bring them back in for that one in order to keep them fresh. We do seem to have a bit of squad depth, expecially in midfield so we need to make use of that like the top four teams do and not be afraid to rotate even if some players are in form. Resting them could well keep them in form for longer.

This and Burnley are huge games given our fixtures in December, a return of 4 or more points would set us up fantastically well and would take the pressure off going in to that tough run of games.

If Abeid is fit I can't see any argument in favour of Tiote starting. Abeid's a big lad and he's earned his chance. Let Tiote warm up against Burnley.

    Yeah, fair comment <ok>

Either way I don't want to see the same 11 start both games.

I'd rotate Cisse & Perez, Abeid & Tiote, Gouffran & Cabella so not wholesale changes but enough to keep everyone fresh. I think Moussa, Janmaat and someone else I can't remember are only one booking away from a one game ban too so if we're winning comfortably in either game I'd definitely look to take them off in order to avoid said ban.

I agree Tiote would have to earn the right for me. Also I'm struggling to see any reason to pick Gouffran ahead of Cabella. Both love grazing. Cabella is just better at everything else.

Gouffran puts in more of a shift and is more defensively aware.

It's cabella's first season in his career playing through the whole of winter and 3 games in 7 days is something he's just not ready for.

I'd consider Gouffran for the Burnley game. You need your better players against the top opposition. Gouffran did find form around this time last year, and looked slightly better on Saturday. He has been awful or a while though and doesn't seem to put the same shift in. I think Cabella will up his game for West Ham and Chelsea. If I was Pardew I'd be saying to him "this is your chance to stand up and be counted" for the West Ham game. Tell him how West Ham are viewed as physical and challenge him.

Cabella is pretty fresh having only recently got in and he hasn't completed either of the last two. Pardew seems to be managing his time really well to ease him in and keep plenty in the legs.

Carroll will score against us, we'll lose, then lose every game in December, then sell all our players and then get relegated!

Been waaayyyy too much positivity on our board lately! Now get real people! ;) <ok>

Have to agree with Boro Gully. I fear the bubble will burst - with Fat Sham, Nolan and the Pony-tailed lothario out to prove a point.
Mind you, I've been wrong plenty of times so here's hoping!

I remember a good trip to the Boleyn Arms? - the pub outside the ground. Mind you we were playing Charlton when they played well.
Sadly, my other memory of that trip was seeing John 'The Undertaker' there - RIP lads.

I don't like this new positive attitude either. There is a distinct element of uncertainty creeping in that wasn't there at the beginning of the season. I want the old Mr T back.

just think this game will really suit a counter-attacking style as West Ham will be out for a win. As long as we have the players fit I think we could get a sneaky away win.
