  1. Exactly. People claim Flanno is rash into the tackle, I'd say he is solid and aggressive. He rarely dives in and misses the ball, he only does it when he knows he is going to win it, that is what makes his tackling so impressive for me. Plus, as I said above, he brings passion, heart and desire into the side too.

Bolasie just switched the right just prior to Ledleys goal courtesy of a Bolasie pass. All came from the woeful free kick by the keeper into the managers area. now the goal from the free kick after a stupid foul by skertl. after reading all your comments I totally agree now, sack BR

  3. I thought the foul was harsh, they were both pulling. Nothing we could do about the resulting goal though, it was a great freekick.

nah mate... he is either dumb and dumber or he's dumbo... in either case football is furthest form the mind.

this is just like biscan... if flanno can manage to keep injured for long enough his cult legend will grow. the worst thing he can do is play lots of games and end up like traore....

Anyway, been on 12-hr nights the last week (can't believe I actually got up and watched that s**t) but here is my markings and analysis:-

Ming: 5 One good save and can't really be faulted for the goals, but always looked shaky.

Manquillo; 5 Was targeted on his own as he had no cover in front of him and didn't cope at all.

Skrtel: 5 Woeful at times, and nearly fulfilled my pre-match prediction of getting sent off.

Lovren: 3 Just not getting any better, and the way he ended up on his arse in the run-up for the second goal is sadly typical. We'd have been better off keeping Agger. Or even asking Big Sammi to come out of retirement.

Johnson: 4 Are we really going to offer him £60k a week to stay? Good God, he looks like he's shared the last pies with Luke Shaw.

Gerrard: 4 Either play him in the Pirlo role, in which case he needs four runners like Allen and Lucas around him, or stick up behind the forward. Offers nothing now defensively, but still one of the League's best dead-ball strikers.

Allen: 6 Our best player, but doesn't have the physical presence to mix it against big buggers like Palace.

Lallana: 5 Obviously started out well, but he's a playmaker like Coutinho and playing both in physical match away from home is preposterous. Offered no cover to Manquillo.

Coutinho; 5 flitted this way and that when he did get the ball, but no-one infront of him ever made one intelligent run.

Lambert: 5 An improvement of Balotelli, but not by much. Heading ability not that much to write home about for a target man either - I can honestly say that I believe Suarez would have buried both of those chances with his head (and Suarez's heading ability IS something we also miss).

Sterling: 4 Worst appearance in red shirt for months - or since Basle, anyway. No service, but no running into space when Coutinho had the ball either.

    Subs

Can: 5 Should have been on from the start for either Lallana or Coutinho.

Borini: 4 Came on and offered even less movement than Lambert.

Brod: 2 Bizarre tactics against a big, strong, fast physical team. Can we play Coutinho and Lallana in the same team? I don't think so. Gerrard is hopelessly slow trying to stop quick, counter-attacks. The whole back four, bar manquillo, has utterly no pace. So Brendan has to cut his cloth accordingly, but the old problem about not being tactically diverse is there for all to see. Hard to see us winning a match with that goalkeeper, that defence, that midfield and those strikers this side of January. Even then, we're not exactly going to spend £100m on world class forwards in January (remember Morientes?) as those that are available are available because they're not so good, or, as in the case of Shaqiri, probably won't want to come in to this shambles anyway?

Sack Brendan? No, absolutely not. Give him till the end of the season, though top four and CL progress has all but gone now (yes, I know it's only 5 points but it will be 15 by the New year, wait and see). Nonetheless, the whole squad need overhauling now in the summer, and if Brendan can't recognise that Lovren and Markovic has not been £45m pissed up the wall we really need to be careful giving him any money in January, let alone being the man to be trusted with funds in the summer, when we'll not even have CL football to attract the best players.

Brendan said that we ended last season two years ahead of schedule. We're now back five years to the dark days of Hodgson, and, unlike Hodgson and Rafa, Brendan has nobody to blame but himself as there's been no upheavel at the club that those faced. If he can somehow still pull off top four and CL knockout stages from this morass he could, possibly save himself (can't see that now though). Otherwise, it's anyone but Rafa (or Kenny!) for me. But not till summer.
