Another enjoyable evening looking forward to the football league show. Again to win 4-1 away miss a penalty takes some doing what a turn round
Can't wait to see Cowan hall and jacobsons goals again tonight. They looked superb live. Think we played better against them before the sending off and always looked likely to go on and win.
What a great weekend Saturday seeing Wycombe score 4 good goals against Cheltenham I have to admit I was a little worried after the disapointing show against Burton and the injuries but Pierre returning to the heart of the defence and Josh into the middle sortted it all out Pierre was immence Josh was as busy as ever and Paris scared the **** out of them every time he got the ball to his feet Craig should have put us in front early on then Rowe lost his man from a corner and we were 1-0 down but not for long a great strike form Paris put us level and after that we cruised it if anything them going down to 10 made it harder as they didn't push forward and we had to work harder to create chances all in all a great win and to go back top was a bonus. A wet Sunday morning spent in front of the telly the FLS and also watched the Burton game sorry I can't agree with all the negitivity as the first half was a even affair and if Pierre and Josh had been playing we wouldn't have been behind and then to loose Woody and Max at half time really knocked us for six but we still looked like we may get something out of the game dispite players being injured until our offside goal then I agree after that we were very poor but that was credit to Burton who put the game to bed. Then watching Hamilton win in the afternoon finished things off nicely.
watching the highlights again gives me a few observations. Firstly, the referee got the red card spot on (even if the pen was dodgy at best!), it was a dangerous challenge. Secondly and more importantly all 4 goals were superbly taken strikes from different players. It shows something that in a 4 goal haul, 4 different players scored and neither of our top 3 scorers did. This team really does have goals from everywhere, something that weve lacked for years
The absence of Pierre and Scowen was clear to see Guy and it was my big worry going into the match. And yes, it made things worse when we lost Woody and Max. But what frustrated me was their constant high balls when they were clearly being out-battled in the air. That made us look very average.
I think the long ball game deployed against Burton was a tactic that Gaz had seen work against them in their 3 defeats in October against Stevenage, Morecambe and Cambridge all long ball teams we were just not that good at it but credit must go to Burton who's game plan worked to perfection.
Full marks for homework but disappointed if he couldn't spot that it wasn't working and change tactics. My first criticism of Gaz. Hope it's my last because I'm his biggest fan.
I think plan A was to play our normal game plan B was the long ball game but we had no plan C and no fit players left anyway with such a small squad we must expect the odd poor game just unfortunate it was while the whole world was watching
