Wonder if Alonso has stipulated that he has to have some input into choosing his teammate? Can't see why McLaren would go with two new drivers, when it is clear that KMag or Button are both good candidates for the second seat.
Maybe he'll want to prove himself again? He said himself he wants a new motivation (maybe hinting at leaving f1?) and because of the lack of testing and lack of complete change in tyres (2007/2011 when Alonso changed to new brand of tyres he started struggling compared to previous years) makes me think he'd beat anyone who goes there
Don't know if mentioned but Perez is confirmed at force India this was announced along side that the team have a new enhanced partnership with Carlos slims America movil brand and the car will be launched in Mexico early next year.
Not really...we all have over imaginative minds and in the absence of any news we speculate and make it up. I think it will be the bleeding obvious.
After today, there's only one sensible choice IMO Buttons result pretty much paid his own salary in the constructors money he earnt the team. No choice to make. When the pressure was on, Button delivered the points, KMag delivered nothing.
[h=1]Raffaele Marciello to drive Ferrari Formula 1 car in Abu Dhabi test[/h] Ferrari may be searching for a drive for him at some point?
The question must be who's going to be replacing Banchi if Manor get on the grid? Marciello has been desperately unlucky all year with the car breaking down and others running into him, I really hope he's on the grid soon, but I can't help but feel another gp2 season would be best for him. Same with Vandoorne, as he's going to be dominating it next season, like he has for the last half of this season.
Will this Abu Dhabi testing reveal anything of note with regards to 2015 or should we be holding fire until the tests in New Year?
A first indication of the pace of the Honda engine is probably the most significant thing we'll find out, Have to wait and see if the likes of Craig Scarborough can read anything into the aero work.
Ah dang we are back to talking about testing because there's nothing else to discuss. Sad thing is by February the idea of testing will make me all excited.
I don't think so, seeing as the engine freeze still applies to them doesn't it? That said, Mercedes reckon you can still change 95% of the parts (or something daft) despite the freeze, so there might be some testing, but probably hard to notice.
Just had another look at the final standings and the results are pretty eye opening KMag ended up finishing the season on the exact same number of points as Raikkonen.... yes, that Kimi who has been much maligned (at times rightly so) whilst driving a crap car, KMag in a better car, with easily the best engine on the grid ended up finishing level with somebody that a few say isn't fit to race in F1 anymore! How exactly is there even a discussion on him keeping his seat over Button? I have nothing against KMag (i actually do rate him), and i'm not a Button fanboy, but c'mon now McLaren, in no way is there even a decision to make here. Rookie season or not, he's not delivered consistently enough, Button has. I'd even go as far as saying Perez gave Button a harder time than he has (who incidentally also finished ahead of KMag). McLarens position in the constructors ahead of Force India was almost single handedly down to Jenson. Not saying for a second Kevin doesn't have the ability, he does and has a lot of potential, but right here, right now Button is in ab other league to Kmag, in fact hes a couple of leagues above him. No decision to make.
I'd love to see Button join WEC with Nissan. He deserves to keep his seat if he wants it though, he's ended the season incredibly strongly. Alonso-Button would probably be the strongest line up on the grid next year. It would be nice to see a racing team go for all out performance rather than potential. I had high hopes for Magnussen this year and have been disappointed. I still think he has what it takes though, Bottas has been a lot stronger in his second season, it's difficult for rookies now with the testing ban. I think there's a feeling that if Magnussen's dropped after a year he'll be "tossed on the scrapheap", but Grosjean went away for a year before returning. Even Alonso had a year out after his debut season so it's by no means the end of the road for Magnussen if he isn't on the grid next year. I'd like to see McLaren race Alonso and Button next season, and place Magnussen in ART with Vandoorne and let them fight it out to be Alonso's team mate in 2016.
Could this be true? Bianca Garloff @bgarloff · 3h 3 hours ago new @MercedesAMGF1 engine already one second faster. if engine rules stay, mercedes will dominate until 2020.
That would mean at least another 100bhp on top of what they have. Seems a bit far fetched as they can only tweak the engines between now and the new season.
