Re Rosberg, to paraphrase Shakespeare "nothing in his championship became him like the losing of it". Such grace in defeat. He impressed all us doubters today.

well he was really,i mean 11 wins to 5.lewis on race days was most of the time better.nico i think only converted 3 of his 11 poles into wins, which is poor.whereas lewis won 11 with only 7 poles.not once this season did nico manage to come from behind and beat lewis in a race.plus lewis only finished 16 races, and finished ahead of nico 12 times.so race wise, lewis was very dominant, and thats the days you win the points on.

I'm convinced that Hamilton just set his car up with the race in mind rather than pole during the second half of the season. Getting second was always pretty much guaranteed with the dominance of the Merc.

Anyway, where's Kyle? I want to play up to the insufferable Hamelot image that he insists Hamilton fans have. Stick that in ya pipe and smoke it!!! :p

I assumed the same re qualifying. It's made my life easier, as I didn't feel the need to watch qualy each week in 'real time', knowing that it really didn't matter so much...

Yes, he sort of alluded to that but given Nico tries to copy I am surprised he didn't do the same.

I felt sorry for him losing the title in that manner. I was hoping we'd get a titanic battle that would be talked about for years.

He took it on the chin though. Fair play to him. I imagine he'll bounce back stronger for it next season.

No, just Lewis on his own in that one. Hard to see at that size.

Maybe he is touching his own butt. Hard to say. Hopefully not really.

I wondered about that too and I decided that pole was more important for Nico because he wasn't the best at overtaking or wheel-to-wheel racing.

Utterly delighted for Lewis. Fully deserved and a great day for the sport as we witnessed Lewis's ascension to the pantheon of greats. Perhaps the only criticism of him before the season was with regards to his temperament and his tendency to get bogged down in a rut but despite some tough moments this season he bounced back with astonishing brutality, no more so than after that unfortunate collision with Rosberg in Spa. Rosberg deserves so much applause as well. Maybe he didn't have the outright speed or clinical nature of Lewis but he showed us what a fine driver he is this season and on top of that, a real classy gentleman. Still we didn't expect anything less from him. After the truly depressing 2013 season, 2014 has restored my faith in the sport. An intense, human rivalry conducted so brilliantly by two great characters of the sport and managed so well by Mercedes too. Lewis is the tour de force in this sport and has proven and shown beyond doubt why he is the best driver on the grid, somewhat questionable statement according to some when you had the brilliant Spaniard in Ferrari. However, what took Lewis two seasons at Mercedes was not managed in 5 seasons at Ferrari by Alonso, who are now in a worse state at the end of his tenure there than they were at the beginning. A damning indictment indeed and indefensible for anyone who still insist on calling him the 'best driver in f1'.

    Regardless, roll on 2015!

I thought perhaps it was Lewis and Nicole in their favourite position.

Edit: Oh dear, I've just seen large version of this and it looks like nothing of the sort <doh>

Or its because he has a car which is over a second faster than the rest and still struggled to win the championship, while with a car a second slower than the best Alonso only just lost out. There's no doubt in my mind given the Merc this year, Alonso would have been WDC months back

What if he had the same mechanical failures? Would have been difficult to do it much earlier with the double points bollocks of this year, and without the undisputed no.1 status he craves.

11 wins is pretty impressive. He beat his teammate and is a deserved WDC.
