I still think that he would gain from a confidence course or counselling on his anxiety issues.

Have to say, Beefy, that a friend of mine who suffered from anxiety after getting a management job was helped by a hypnotist. He convinced her that she deserved her promotion (which she did) and it really helped. Don't fancy it myself, but it worked for her.

 

As MLT says, if you can't make it here, you won't make it anywhere.
