You're not wrong Treble and I suspect Fellaini will struggle to get a game when we aren't playing one or two youth team players at centre half and Blind is fit. At the moment, like much of the season so far, it's a case of just trying to get through games and get results until such time as the manager has options. Had Mata played instead of Fellaini today we could have been on the end of a drubbing, although the Gooners may finally have accepted today why Welbeck will never be a prolific goalscorer.
Wow, a game where we played well below our potential but ground out a win. Its like the 12/13 season's back. This was a big win for us. Now with a bit of belief and hopefully a defender in January and we could still salvage a decent season.
Today means little if we don`t win the next two games (at home), quite pleased we only conceded one goal today with the defence we put out but that was more down to poor finishing than good defending. We need to get more creativity into the midfield, i understand the use of Fellaini to help with breaking things up and to help hold things up at the front, maybe today we needed him with the team we put out btu against Palace Herrera should have played. I just hope it is because LVG is trying to keep a settled team under the present circumstancies and will change this once we have more options.
Fellaini was the fall guy for all of last season. In my opinion, that was a tad unfair, as no one last year came out with any real credit. This year, Fellaini has grafted, and as he follows LVG's tactics, he gets the job done. It ain't pretty, but with the injuries we have, a three pointer at Arsenal has to be a bonus. Using Fellaini as the scapegoat is, in my opinion, unjustified. So can we please get off his back and let LVG make the decisions on team selection. Or would we all rather he play "pretty pretty" football and lose?
Weve had 40 injuries this season and played a game with 13 or so out today. Away to a top 4 rival with our squad decimated was never going to be pretty. Van gaal got it righy today. With what he had it was spot on.
To be fair Fellaini is doing a job but he's never going to be a United player. The sooner we don't need him the better. £27million? More like £5million.
He together with carrick and Rooney provided essential cover for a very weak and inexperienced defensive line up. To play pretty football at the emirates would have been suicide. LVG got it right today despite an incredible list of injuries. Let's acknowledge it. Ps: the RS fans think they'll easily overturn Palace tomorrow. Can't wait for the thrashing they are going to administer the Londoners...
Good point Christian. Fellaini did the job required, yet some so called "fans" think he did nowt. Would rather have Fellaini in my team and be prepared to graft, rather than an egotistical poser like Taglatelli, who makes no effort whatsoever.
Hope i am not one of them? I think Fellaini has done a great job for the team since he has come in, he has helped in all three areas of the pitch and is producing something like the football he played at Everton. My comments are based on the fact that the midfield is lacking creativity, not Felli`s fault but a selection fault in my opinion. We need to either drop a striker (probably the best option given the makeshift defence) or go four at the back to make room for Herrera or Mata, this wil lead to more scoring opertunities and better ball retention, it could/should take some pressure off the defence.
"Talking sense " according to a ******ed fan,.. What an endorsement to get I'm not sure treble wanted that...it is like being endorsed as a non-racist by Whelan.
Congrats on an unjinxed thread HRH. Keep up the good work. Its not too early to start a United v Stoke thread.
Fellaini's played well in your last few games, arguably been your best player. The hatred towards him is odd, as is the total lack of comprehension of his contribution in some quarters
Agree totally Tobes. Fellaini is playing well at the moment, and doing a good job for LVG. At long last he is showing signs of the quality of his days at Everton, and long may it continue. What I cannot understand is the constant whining from certain fans who are still using him as the scapegoat for last year.
If anyone needs to be the focus of United fans ire it's Van Pervert as he's been about as much use as a chocolate fire guard in your recent games
I don't think there are many United fans who aren't critical of Van Persie at the minute. He's only being picked because he's Dutch and defends the near post at corners very well. Wilson has looked far more threatening in his brief appearances.
Spot on again Tobes. RVP had 2 touches in the first half yesterday. If anyone looks jaded, its him. Wilson offered a whole lot more in 15 mins than Van Persie in 75.
