TBH I usually on come one here to wind you Robins up. But I can honestly say, especially as we seem to have been bombarded by non stop promotion of UKIP in the media, Vincent Tan's words are like a breath of fresh air against the growing tide of 'acceptable racism'. Still hope you lose tomorrow though.
If there is one thing I can not abide, it is people taking offence on behalf of other people. If the Jews or Chinese are offended, I am sure they can decide this for themselves, and say so - Tan does not need to get involved, so I have to wonder just what this 'orrible little mans motives are.

Its a fine quote, but the fact that no-one spoke for themselves in the past is a irreverent. By the time the Jews did speak out, it was too late, and no-one believed what was happening anyway. I strongly disagree that it is a duty to flag up such comments, although I cannot deny they have the right to do so, but it still is none of his business. A person can only talk for them-self when it comes to feelings and what they are thinking, and if you feel those remarks were offensive/racist, then that is the very definition of taking offence on behalf of others, who are more than capable of saying so themselves. It's like taking the decision to not show a nativity play next month because some minority group may feel excluded or marginalised, if the play was to go ahead. I.e. someone taking action on behalf of others, where it might not even be justified, and are doing it - just in case. (Typical of the UK today mind) How does VT know that any Jewish or Chinese person was offended, or took the comments as racist - and if no Jews or Chinese did take offence, is it still racist? It's worth bearing in mind that both the Jews and Chinese are strong minded and level-headed, unlike the Muslims that take offence at the drop of a hat. I would be very surprised if anyone from either community took exception.
Sorry Thai but the way you just made an assumption on behalf of all Jews and Chinese whilst categorising all Muslims is ridiculous. It's unlikely you could find a single family you could make assumptions about all their opinions so to even suggest you can for billions of different people spread across the planet is mental! What I should have said was "Islamists" and not Muslims, because you are right, not all Muslims are so sensitive. and most are decent people who make the effort to fit in and go with the flow. When it comes to taking offence, I am referring to 'hurtful comments', and not physical violence, they are two very different creatures, because hurtful comments are emotional, and neither you or I can say if so and so is actually offended by a casual "off-the-cuff" remark.
True, I'll take the physical violence comparison away but there's still an important point to make. I can take offence at someone abusing someone racially without the need for someone from that racial background to ever here the comments. If Tan (or anyone else) finds Ch**k offensive then they do not require a Chinese person to be personally offended to validate their stance. There are equality/diversity laws in place that apply these rules to every work place not just professional football.
There are many so called ant-racism groups who are creating as much disharmony and division in society in this country as the racists they proclaim to be against. Don't be fooled by their words.
I am not trying to get in to an argument (with either you, or anyone else) but I don't see why anyone 'needs' to be offended on behalf of anyone else. I will hear comments by people that I think are not wise (and could possibly be considered racist or offensive), but I have never taken offence on behalf of another individual or group of people, as I believe it is down to the individual (or group) that the comments are aimed at, as to whether it really is offensive to them or not. I can only make an assumption, which may or may not be the right one. If an individual has not heard the remarks aimed directly at them, they can't be offended, and that is the end of the matter (or should be) in my humble opinion.
I think Tan is of Chinese origin, so gives him every right to comment. Doesn't mean he isn't an 'orrible little man though.
