Ravey Davey Bowie - you either like him or loathe him! Here's my critique. 1980 started off great with Scary Monsters and Super Creeps. The Dame Bowie decided to "in his own words give the people what they wanted". Bollocks he was skint as his manager had stitched him up. So we got Let's Dance - utter keech except Ricochet. Next up Tonight - ****in rank apart from Loving The Alien. Then Labyrinth - dearie ****in me!! Then his nadir Never Let Me Down - utter horse manure, ****in Glass Spider, I went down with a pal by coach to see him at Sunderland's Roker Park - worst concert I have been to. The support band Big Country were better. Then Tin Machine. Oh dear, one review I saw was simply titled "Crap Machine". I'd like to wrap that guitar round Reeves Gabrells neck. Black Tie White Noise next and a pleasant return to form although there is still dross like Miracle Tonight. Outside next - some decent songs but pretentious twaddle. Earthling - ****. Hours - kind of quite liked this. Then I thought he really got back to form with Heathen. I Will be your Slave being the best. Reality - bollocks. The Next Day was a fine return to form. The 70's was his best period though. The earliest album of his that I have is The Man Who Sold The World featuring one of his epics All The Madmen which always struck a chord with me. If I were to pick my favourite Bowie album though it would be between Station To Station and Low. Essentially though he was just a modern day Little Richard. All music is plagiarised and bastardised. My next review will be on the original manufactured boy band - that's right The Fab Four. Stay tooned pop pickers. DJ Drew (finger on the pulse).
Correct. Both sides are brilliant in their own diverse way. Ziggy Stardust was just glam rock a la Gary Glitter and Sweet.
I'm looking forward to the review of Dark Side of the Moon - without a shadow of a doubt the most overrated album in the history of music.
Obviously you never got stoned on cheep Moroccan hash in your mate's bedroom listening to this when you were 15. A unique piece of music that has stood the test of time.
90% of the Floyd's work is class, including Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast off the Atom Heart Mother album. Try getting stoned to that one.
