Please, if you would be so kind, tell me why its only a small portion of Liverpool fans who think the EC was harder to win. Granted 2 or 3 supporters of other clubs and the 'things were better in the past' brigade may agree but for the most part its just LFC.
You're not really a rival, we have you lot in our back pockets, if only we could figure out how to beat stoke, then we could take over the world.
These idiots have to be reminded that running off and coming back on here regurgitating info is not actual football Knowledge and will be forgotten as soon as its used to make a point. One or two of them think mentioning names that sound unfashionable means they couldn't kick a ball. The ones I am talking about couldn't be old enough to have seen any of those games yet they kow everything about them, and then they say they are not obscessed with Liverpool, they say their own board is dead, why,who will go there to debate when this is all you get from them. No wonder its dead there. All they do is try to force opinions on you, groundless beliefs, because the truth means taking a step down from that arrogant arsehole parrott perch
Bayern also finished below borussia for two of those cup winning seasons and in the third season borussia got to the euro cup final but you are still stay bayern were better? As I said your logic is all over the place.
KPR, its fair to say football now is much more sports based. Its much more professional. Some of the passion has gone though. Its sort of like comparing the 100m from 50 years ago to now. Now its much more professional and the standards are far higher. Still winning the Olympic gold back then meant as much as it does today.
It isn't at all. You've only ever posted the argument on this board, hence you only have our responses. I might say in a counterargument that only 'a few' Utd fans think it was easier to win. I've responded to this opinion of yours in another thread, saying that if you're the best team in Europe it'll be easy no matter what the opposition. It's totally subjective. And your own personal opinion cannot change that. More often than not, a sh*t team will get knocked out early and a good team will win it.
Well I was looking for the book on Everton but they had all gone so had to make do with Everton mark 2, aka Liverpool
the job defines the task, he's there to manage liverpool and win as many games as possible. After than we'll see what comes eh? Stop talking sheite for once
Look I've already pointed out flaws in both eras. Firstly I don't think Modern footballers would survive back then,as players kicked three shades of ****e out of each other.I don't think David ''I wear nail-polish'' Beckham or Cristiano ''I get my chest waxed'' Ronaldo would last five minutes up against Norman Hunter,Billy Bremner or Chopper Harris. Then these three wouldn't survive in this fitness orientated era either. Arsene Wenger in 1996 was the pioneer for the current fitness orientated era.He had his players drinking tea and banned them from going on the lash. However UIR is right. The passion seems to have gone.It was more competitive back then,to some clubs, getting into the CL is more important than silverware,as getting into the top four generates more money than claiming silverware.
You don't see teams retaining their Champions League title because it is so difficult to win. Even Barcelona, who many consider to be the greatest club side of all time, haven't yet retained a Champions League title.
the argument goes on all over the place. A quick google brings up 100s of forums talking about it. generally its LFC fans who say it was harder back then, fans of clubs who were never involved in europe sometimes agree but for the most part people accept that standards are higher now thus making for a tougher overall competition.
I'm not taking anything away from what he achieved. Both are / were great managers. Fergie may not have done it as quickly but he has sustained it over a long period . I'm not discrediting either manager as both are greats in their own rights. However it seems that some Liverpool fans want to discredit Fergie as a manager as they don't like him has a person.
Standards are higher, but it is the competing teams which make said standards. It's like to win the 100m at the Olympics you'll have to run faster than you did in the 70s, but all of the athletes are better now than they were then. You're competing against other teams, it's not like you're taking an exam paper which has harder questions than ever before.
