Really? You refer to disasters caused by terracing. That was Hillsborough,,which was down to more than just the terracing, and Bolton donkeys years ago. Bradford had nothing to do with terracing, in fact it wouldn't have happened on terracing and Ibrox was people outside the stadium. We had a knee jerk reaction from people who didn't like the common herd congregating together and being raucous. They saw a chance to turn football into a nice, gentle experience without all those nasty ruffians being involved. Hence the sterile atmosphere which now comprises the match day experience on this country. The having terracing idea works as Germany has larger crowds and sections of the ground that younger people can afford.
Silly comment. Things were a lot worse than that and you know it. Gates were falling alarmingly cos of the violence, pure and simple it wasnt safe.
did you not see the "according to Talkshite" bit- before you blamed me as if I was reporting an exclusive and got it arse end upwards? #moaningcunt
but, safe standing as demonstrated in germany for example, where each fan gets a 'specific' number is completely different to the times of the 70's and 80's. seating was needed back then, but everything in society has changed, it's a completely different ballgame now so to speak
You don't get a specific number in Germany. When the rail seats are used as seats(for European games), then you get a specific seat number, but for other games there's 1.7 people for each rail seat space.
i want designated standing areas to return however i don't think many safety officers on the council will sign their own ticking bomb - that would blow up in their face as soon as someone trips and gets injured or worse . i dont think theres much precedent for removing a "safety" feature especially in this mollycoddled world
Pete, the chairman of our SAG has absolutely no issue with safe standing, he expects it to return at some point and he actually invited the Safe Standing Roadshow to the KC. He says we have a major issue implenmenting it ourselves, due to the design of the KC and a lack of exits, but you'd expect there to be ways round those sort of issues.
