Perhaps....or perhaps under FFP we have no room to spend! Especially as it seems like we are far from progressing in the CL. Either way, it's piss poor management imo.
Haven't we always questioned his ability, I know I have. I've said it far too many times on here already ..... that he came to us as a manager with very little experience in management and even less at top level. We all knew he was a big risk at the time, don't tell me anyone thought wow Brendan Rodgers, we were all resigned to the idea that he was the level of manager we could attract [him and Martinez]. So where does the being found out type comments come from? If it was Mourinho facing a real challenge at a mid table club .... anywhere - then yes he'd be found out for being a manager who can only manage given the very best players and shed loads of money. But it's Brendan Rodgers, we back him because he's our manager but given the over-achievement of last season, how else did we see this going. We aren't exactly up and running yet this season but I'm guessing a not too dissimilar performance from his first year, maybe, hopefully some improvement. That's just realism!
mourinho walked into chavland and said they could not win a thing... then worked hard to prove it. if mourinho walked into a real mid table club then maybe we would find what he's all about or not..... but rodgers got all the money needed to be top 4. and he is this year looking like he's ****ed an ugly ugly dog...
Yeah, I guess so. I can remember a few games pre Christmas last year at our inability to defend and spitting feathers! Then we went on that run and I thought that I'd judged him too quickly. Now I wonder how much Rodgers had to do with that run...Suarez drove the team on! In fact, versus Chelsea and Palace, he (BR) showed massive naivety. Maybe he didn't win us the title, he lost it? I'd kill for regular top four right now
I had the same doubts as well if I'm honest. I really thought Rodgers was a tactical, and clever manager and I still think he is, but on a lesser scale. His tactics, formations, in game management this season have been atrocious.
If he lost it for us, then only because he got us in a position to win it. We all talked about the set-up against Chelsea and the last 15 minutes against Palace. The question is, knowing how bad our defending was, did he have much a choice? I think he is tactical and clever, but also still makes mistakes.
with two regular risch clubs plus two other clubs with masses of cash.... top 4 is a pipe dream without total professionalism. we don't have it
But the problem is that he's not learning from these mistakes. Playing Gerrard in such a crucial position week in week out, playing 2 clowns at the back in Johnson and Skrtel, signing utter dross like Lovren. He simply does not have a clue on defending which is understandable - no manager is perfect but it's up to him to get the right people beside him to help him coach. At the moment, he's a got his mates around him, all yes men.
I'm not sure it's just a case of not learning - he seems to like trying some things for ages to see if they get better with time, while everyone else pulls their hair out. Agree he needs to have the right people beside him.
But it's not about money with Rodgers is it? It's about lack of experience and he doesn't have that, so starting from his view on which particular player we need to getting the tactics right and everything in between, he just hasn't got enough experience yet. I don't like the idea that it's our club he's making the mistakes a newcomer makes at, I'd far rather we'd got a more experienced manager or if it was somehow going to be Rodgers, then have him when he's perfected his art somewhere else first. But that's all fantasy! ... and that's going to be his downfall unless he accepts help.
That's some serious Zen master sh*t in lowering expectations and a great indictment of Rodgers. If that's the case, then the moment we can attract better than midtable managers (and that is "Asap" before we stoop to midtable mediocrity long-term with BR), we should ditch this impostor.

he clearly didn't work very hard on his years hols in france. we signed a gap year student. The attitude shown over there is worrying.
Thats what we get under Rodgers though. Add Ings to that pile of crap and we have a pathetic strike force.
He scored 9 in 44 games this season? 6 in 35 the season before that. In the French League ffs! How can you not read much into that?
