Nearly a month ahead of schedule and tge big man is back! Means no more relying on Sanogo and weve got some height and physicality in the team. Just hope Debuchy recovers as fast
Good to have Giroud back. It gives us a different type of attack. However, Welbeck deserves the nod after his good form domestically and Internationally. I'm sure he's eager to show the butcher what he's missing.
Hes really not very good. In terms of a striker for a top club. Slightly better than some of your strikers down the years but still another average striker at the end of the day. You wont find a single united fan upset if he starts up front ahead of welbeck and sanchez.
Van Gaal confirms De Gea, Di Maria and Carrick are fit to face Arsenal. Blind out and doubt over Shaw. LvG: "Di Maria he has trained today normally so I don’t think that is a question mark but Luke Shaw is a question mark (for Saturday)."
Welbeck to start and get a brace. Then Giroud to come on late in the game to nod in another one 3-0 Credit to our medical team for getting him back a month ahead of schedule
Wellbeck is already better than Giroud IMO. He can run past players, hold the ball up and play the channels. - Both strikers need to improve their finishing. At 23 he needs games to push on to the next level. Personally hope Wenger keeps him in our starting lineup for the foreseeable future. The Boss does seem to show a preference for French players though which is a worry.
I'm with you on this Bear, Welbeck has the potential to go past Giroud level wise. However, Giroud overall has better fundamentals, he doesn't do anything outstanding, but everything well enough. Welbeck is still a little rough around the edges and needs to smooth things out. He is obviously more quicker, can run at players, better at quick counter-attacks and has more tricks in his locker, but Giroud holds up play better, is more smarter and better in the air. Their finishing is around the same, which is an issue for us if we want to challenge the very best. But out of the two, Welbeck has the better chance to improve the finishing part of his game than Giroud.
Yeah agreed. The key here is Giroud is 28 - in other words he's at the peak of his career yet his finishing is still not at the required level. The chance of further improvement is slim as physically he will probably start to decline in the next few years. Wellbeck though at 23 has ALOT more room to grow and improve.
I don't think Giroud will decline that much in the next few years as his game isn't based on speed. But it's good to have him back, as we've missed his ability to hold the ball up and bring in other players (might get players like Ramsey to improve their form), but in particular we've missed his aerial threat (both offensively and defensively). There's no way he's going to start, and Welbeck deserves to keep playing for his form - though I'd say he needs to improve his scoring record, as does Giroud. But it's a good option to have where you can bring on a player a little bit different off the bench, or go for a more 'horses for courses' approach with the strikers.
I think United will line up with: Degay Shaw Their 2 young CB's Valencia Fellaini Carrick DiMaria Mata Rooney RVP That's a pretty good side, defence looks really weak though. We should win.
Before Rooney brace and RVP equaliser in the last 8 mins to make it 3-3 Credit to your Mertesacker for getting us back just before the final whistle
