Don't worry fellas I've just read that we're in for some Belgian wonderkid who's a striker, deal is already done apparently and he's only going to cost us £5 million.

He's only 19 though so I hope the pressure isn't too much for him, he has a load of full Internatioanl caps aswell though so he should be good looks like Rodgers has done some good business here.

Soon be top of the league.

From what I've read it would be £3m but not a quote from Rodgers in sight!

Why he hasn't played Lambert and Lallana together is a mystery - I think between them they did ok last year, he could at least give it a go ....

  4. There must be something more to the Lamvert signing IMO. Why sign him and not use him? Especially when the other two available options have been so poor.

I honestly wonder sometimes if managers do it on purpose knowing the fans are baying for a certain player or player pairing, so it looks like they [manager] know best and are being very tactically astute <laugh>

Imo, when he has been on he's shown very little to suggest he should be used more. I don't mind if he's given more time, to see if that's what he needs, but I'm not surprised that BR hasn't shown much faith in him. It's fair enough to say that young players have or need time to develop, but that's obviously not an option with him.
I like Lambert, and want him to do well (like all our players), but I've been disappointed in his displays so far.

He hasn't had much of a change though mate, has he, and why not play him with Lallana?

exactly, is nearly as stupid as buying Carroll and Downing but refusing to see them in the team together, when it makes more ruddy sense to.

  9. I don't think he's done enough to warrant being a first team starter for us but then I consider the other options we have and think he's done more than the other two. I'd be starting with Lambo as the best of a bad bunch.

As JB's said, he's not had much of a chance. But IMO, Rickie has done well each time he has had a bit of a chance. Don't play him as a lone striker, play him in a front two.

At this moment we just have to play a front 2 of Lambert and Borini just to try and change our fortune.

  11. Agreed but stop short of saying that since everyone knows I don't like Mario playing <laugh>

those 2 are still likely to be here next season, so need to see them start performing together, i don't think the same with ballo.

I'm not convinced that Borini will be here next season, or that Balotelli won't, but I agree it's worth giving LamBorini a try.
What we have used hasn't worked, and we still can't get Sturridge fit, so we have to try something different.

Lambert needs to play every week if he's going to remain sharp, due to his age imo.

You can't be used as a bit part striker or impact sub at the age of 32

For me he's one of those players that will do a job, but he needs game time to get his confidence up and his eye in.

Similar to the likes of Grant Holt for me, when he was playing every week he was scoring goals, try and turn him into an impact sub and he got out of shape and couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo at Villa.

Now Sturridge is out until the New Year and with Balotelli stinking the place out Mr Clever should stick Lambert in and stick with him imo. Together with Lallana as suggested, as they know each others game.

    not so sure myself.

we know we have a player who has talent, its just whether we can get that out of him, rather give him one more season first personally, after all we have given worst longer, to see if he bucks his ideas up or not, IF he did, we would have a player on our hands, i'm just not sure the club will be the same, as he will be easier to get rid of than Lambert or borini, esp the price we could have got for Borini <grr> hes now worth a fiver ffs.

  17. Like Gonzo, I too hope you're right on the Balotelli front however, I wouldn't mind seeing Borini go too TBH. Nothing against him, he's a good honest hard working player, I just don't think he is good enough. I don't mind Lambert staying so long as he isn't first choice. Having said that, if Brod isn't going to use him then why keep him?

  18. Funny reading that bit when you consider the opinion around Gerrard playing every game <laugh>

  19. I'd have preferred us not to have given him a chance at all :)

Maybe something to do with the fact that Lambert is a sh*t, mediocre, mid table player. Waste of £4m but not as bad as spending £25m on a workhorse who can do a few Cruyff turns.
