Break lights still working. Somehow. I have email correspondence now with them basically admitting liability so that's some evidence if it comes down to it. Interestingly they haven't actually said 'I hit you', but the tone of the emails is so deferential that it's not hard to see who's guilty in this. Had one of the repairs done today, all the airbags and safety restraints needed resetting. Going to get the external stuff done on Monday when the parts have arrived. ****ing bread, potatoes and water for dinner though.

    'Til now. :)

In other news, I see David James has managed to make himself bankrupt despite having earned upwards of £20m in his career (according to some reports).
Really, what some people use for brains is beyond me sometimes.

Not really news, I know, but I hadn't commented on it before. There were some further details of his stuff being sold off going around so I felt moved to make an observation.

  14. Neil Ruddock was declared bankrupt a few months back too. Neither will be a true bankrupt though, both will have done it for financial benefit. Still shocking mind considering the vast sums they've earnt over the years. Both were part of the initial pay boom too so probably didn't get the advice and guidance and how to manage their income. Young players now get all sorts of counselling etc to avoid such scenarios.

I just find it amazing that it happens, though. We're so used to the astronomical amounts that footballers get paid these days it's easy to lose perspective. £20m is a staggering amount of money by any normal working-class standards.
Your points about the current generation may improve things, but I still think it's just wrong that young men get paid that amount for playing football. The majority come from poor or relatively modest backgrounds and simply have no idea how to function in a high-income world.
To spunk a fortune because you're like a kid in a toy shop is criminally wasteful, imo. Not just for the individual concerned, but (as we were discussing charities on another thread) for society as a whole.
As you say, though, bankruptcy is usually just a financial tactic, I doubt he'll be visiting the local soup kitchen too often.

i like the thought that you lads can't figure out what you cannot do on 50k per wekk... i can figure a few things <ok>

i think you should think about a 17 year old on 2-5k per week now and wonder... what would you go do.

Buy 6 times as much crap.

I noticed the other thread, but as we were replying to each other I kept it here. I'll head over there if I've anything more to offer on the subject.
