Most sensible respone here. Courtois has played a whole 11 premier league games and hes the best here? Dont think so. Cech is a better keeper than Courtois. Hes a decent keeper no doubt but hes always had the leagues best defence in front of him. Whats happened is the press have told people hes the best so thats that. Most people have seen him play a few matches and a few motd highlights. Maybe even a youtube video...
But we're not basing it on just 11 league games. He was outstanding last season for Athletico too. De Gea is probably the better shot stopper but his all round game isn't as good as Courtois. As I said, Lloris is the best for me. Decent shot stopper, got very good distribution, reads the game better than any keeper in the world (other than Neuer), is lightening quick off his line, extremely vocal. He has the lot.
The OP says "Who is the best keeper in the Premier League?" and UIR has taken this as the best keeper when considering how the have previous and currently performed in said PL rather than the best keeper currently employed by a PL club. Of course, everyone else realises its the latter but that doesn't suit UIRs argument as Courtious wins the two way race with De Gea. Personally, I'd prefer Lloris over both of them
Hi argument is flawed. As using his rule Obertan is better than Di Maria because he has more Premier league experience. As you've said, he's (deliberately) misunderstood the question in order to maintain his biased stance.
Hes not better though. He commands his area better but in technical terms de gea is far ahead. Lloris . Why is his name popping up. Hes a calamaty. Spurs fans thought he was gomez in disguise ffs.
I like De Gea and said he'd come good for you guys but I think Courtious is currently better. I'd take Lloris because he is better with the ball at his feet than the others.
Wrong. Its not flawed. Its based on the simple fact 99% of people in england have seen Courtious in a few games. 2 or 3. In those games they may have seen him take a goal kick and have a handful of touches. Depending on the game he may have had to pick the ball out of his net. Hes done it quite a alot truth be told considering the team ahead of him. Most people who claim he is better do so without any understanding as to why. Everyone knows di maria is better. Unless youre clinically brain dead as we all know orbertan is absolute ****e. Theres also the classic abu factor. Clouds many a mind.
Aren't you making the same assumption about De Gea...? Not everyone on here is a Man Utd fan Also could be argued that you've seen a lot more of De Gea than the others so its an unfair judgement
Everyone knows Courtois is better. He was instrumental in Athletico not only winning La Liga (with them conceding the least amount of goals) but also in getting them to the Champions League Final. It's all about opinions, only in this isntance your opinion is wrong (as usual)
Vitally important that keepers are good with their feet. Its what makes a goalkeeper.... All keepers are decent on tge ball now. Its part of the game since the backpass rule died. I am more interested in distribution. De geas is excellent. As i said, Courtois makes the mistakes de gea made 3 years ago. Nobody bats an eyelid because he apparently commands his area better. Didnt look that way when the went head to head though. De gea is a better shot stopper, a better distributor of the ball, better 1v1 amd more acrobatic. Now most of these are small margins barring distribution which de gea is street's ahead with. Courtois is better taking the ball out of the air. A bigger presence. De gea isnt far behind though. If he had a settles defence perhaps he would have developed that side of his game further but as it is, hes had about 30 different backlines in front of him. Prerty impressive jist how good he is when you think about it.
De gea has a european winners medal with the same club. Hes also been an important part of a title winning side. The reason Atletico conceded the least goals was their defence. It was incredibly well organised and used in a very defensive formation. He was protected by a wall. De gea has never had that luxury at united. Our defence has been suffering a year injury crisis. I doubt Courtious would look as impressive at united. Nor lloris or any keeper. Its easy when you never touch tye ball.
I sense that you'll argue this to your death bed so I'll leave it at this....you're wrong. De Gea has only just managed to dislodge an ageing Iker Casillas out of the national side. Courtois won a league containing the worlds two best players, neither of which played for his team. Courtois is also two years younger than De Gea. You keep mentioning these mistakes Courtois has made but they don't exist. When de Gea came to England he wouldn't leave hsi line in fear of getting hurt, Courtois hasn't shown anything other than complete confidence in himself when it comes to claiming crosses. What mistakes has Courtois made that have led to goals? None. And it has nothing to do with his defence, if a goalie makes a mistake it results in a goal 99% of the time regardless of who he plays for (see Casillas for Spain at the world cup). You've previously said Di Maria is in the top ten players in the world, Rooney is world class, you have Van Persie, Mata and Falcao making your foward line world class etc etc...if all of this is true, then why are you level on points with us (newcastle)? I mean you have the best keeper in the league according to you and five world class outfield players, that's 6 world class players. Either they're world class and LVG is an utter disgrace of a manager (unlikely given his CV) or they simply aren't anywhere near as good as you believe them to be. I'm going to go with the latter scenario. You really are the most blinkered fan on this forum
No, because aren't Southampton in transition too? Your players just aren't as good as you believe them to be. Rooney is good but not great, Di Maria is exciting to watch but not enough end product, RVP is looking more and more like his legs have gone with each passing game. Falcao has his knee problems and nobody knows if he'll ever be the player he is and Mata (who I believe to be a fantastic player) isn't being used in the correct way. Any team with 6 supposedly world class players wouldn't be in your position in the league, meaning they simply aren't world class. I'll put this in to perspective, Liverpool had a truly world class player supported by 4/5 very good players and finished 2nd. Spurs had a truly world class player supported by 2-3 very good players and finished 4th. World class players can carry teams, nobody is carrying Man Utd because you don't currently have any world class players, you have 5-6 good/very good players.
Do saints currently have nearly every defender put injured? Half the midfield and a third of their attack? I dont think they do. Wonder how they would cope if they had our injuries. Or any club. Arsenal have a far less severe crisis and are struggling and liverpool have even less of a crisis yet are struggling too. Could it be that transition and an injury crisis could hamper a club? Shocking i know. Not sure why it makes our players any worse. Especially strikers who cant do much about midfielder playing as centrebacks. Nor can the goal keeper. Lady lucks shat on us yet we have kept pace.
