Granted his current form is nothing special. I think it will be proven over time Connor Wickham will be a very useful centre forward. I can count on one hand players of his age and ilk who have that ability to fill a lone front man role. He is 21 yr old, no striker of that type is the finished article at that age. I think he has been mismanaged.

He is not the type to play wide either, I think Poyet is getting it all wrong to be honest. Surprising after the end to last season. Fletcher has looked in decent nick of course, which complicates playing one up top. Poyet needs to just bite the bullet and choose. or play both up top. You have wide players who'd be much more effective than he is, or could work in a 442. It is tricky of course to play 442, but there is also the option of 352 as Van Gaal showed in the WC. It wreaks of a desperate attempt to keep Wickham sticking him out wide, fair play if it pays off but its to the teams detriment. Fair play to the lad, he gets accused of being a prima donna, but he has said **** all got his head down and put a shift in. You could of course argue Wickham deserved to be the main man this season and be given 10 games to prove it.

Either way I sincerely hope we pick him up as he'd be perfect for us.

Connor said wants to play wide. Connor can be as good as he wants. Connor has the potential ability, connor's problem is he thinks he's already it. He will fail to fulfill his potential mark my words because the sky's the limit if he gets his act together. He'd rather go on the piss. In the meantime half a dozen good games in three years and only impressing in one of his numerous loans to the championship just doesn't warrant the 40k+pw he's asking for. Go ahead, you lot pay it plus compo, can't see ashley going for it to be honest but I'd laugh like f** if he did.

Agree with you about not playing him wide btw. Fletch up top all day though

At a crossroads, with the right guidance he could be a bit special. I've read he is happy to play wide but sees himself as a central striker. I've never seen him say he wants to be a wide man? Would seem strange when he is obviously a front man. He does seem an arrogant sod with a high opinion of himself but 90% of them are. Can't comment on the drinking, never read anything about it bar his summer hols.

The problem will be Ashley. It will depend what compo is. Wages are not a massive blocker if the fee is cheap. Pardew a big fan too having had him in the Reading academy. I think we'd laugh like **** if he turns out to be as good as Colback who has been the bargain of summer. Been very good for us, hands up I didn't rate him but he has been good. Never gives it away and works his socks off. Not surprised Gus was gutted.

We told you Jack was tidy, he was tidy for us, just didn't bring enough attacking or defensively and I see nothings changed, he's a neither here nor there player. Granted at the time I wanted Colback to sign and Larsson to leave, but on balance I'm glad Colback went and Larsson signed.

Obviously Colback's passing is as superb as ever. Seb is probibly as close as you get to Colback as a conventional CM, Rodwell is a box to box(not a great one so far), Gomez is an AM and Catt's and Bridcutt are DMs. So Seb is best to compare with on position and recent contract situation.

Glad you're happy with him but honestly, he's not missed. Seb is stepping up a treat

Haven't watched Sunderland much so can't comment on Seb. However Colback has gone up a level since joining us, bringing plenty both attacking and more so defensively. Workrate has been outstanding, and his tracking of runners from midfield is superb. Much of his work goes unnoticed. Noticeable how much better he has looked since paired with Abeid rather Tiote. Stats are all well and good but they should never be used above your own eyes to judge a player (unless you're called Sam Allardyce). All I know is that Colback as a free transfer is outstanding piece of business. To get a fringe England international at 24 for nothing is a shrewd bit of work. I'd have been happy with a back up but he has been a big part of our turnaround. Big mistake for Sunderland and daft the club didn't sort it out a lot quicker.

Colback or Larsson? I know who I'd take. He isn't swedish. The only downside is this free kick taking responsibility, he's ****e at it.

Fair dos fella. He just didn't bring what we needed for our system, Seb has, just wish seb would get into the box more. I've no doubt now I'm happier with Seb, big u turn form me on Seb.

Jack's a good little player, he's at his home town club, enjoying his football and you lot are happy with him. Chuffed for him. But we're not missing him and most of us are still pretty indifferent in their opinion of him.

Fair do's, it takes a big man to admit you are bothered, particularly after going to great lengths to say otherwise <ok> I would be too, we took one of your best players for nothing.

You brought it into conversation, then you started beeling to Albert. Great lengths? You're having a go at a stat man for producing stats<doh> I produce them all the time, it's no extra effort than normal sorry to disappoint you.

Why does it bother you that I'm not bothered? Must really boil your blood when folk don't bite, as you're now deciding the sentiments of strangers on their behalf, online <laugh> That's a pretty embarrassing immature way to go on even for you. It was a good move for the lad, I'm pleased for him and I'm not fussed he left. Now watch you don't give yourself a brain hemorrhage from beeling you frustrated little lad. <laugh>

Wouldn't say he was one of our best, but he was one of most reliable. Never hit the heights, but he never let us down. As Funk says, Larsson has really stepped up this season, so the gap in the team from losing Colback has never materialized.

TBH, he's just a little ginger twat nowadays :)
