Headaches again for Poyet. Giaccherini Alvarez Jones and Cattermole back but Fletcher could miss out. Can he really drop Bridcutt after a fantastic display against Everton could he play both given that Larsson would also start? Leicester play 4-4-2 so id match them from the start knowing we've got plenty midfield options from the bench if we want to revert to 4 behind the striker. -------------------Pantilimon--------------------- Vergini-------Oshea---------Brown-----Réveillère Buckley-------Larsson-----Bridcutt------Johnson ---------------Altidore----Wickham-------------- If its not working simply hook one of the strikers for Gomez.
Who ever plays LM/LW needs to help tracking back, Richie de Lat over loops literally every run forward, could be a problem if its 2 vs 1. We could expose this though with some counter attacking, in the likes on Johno and Will
A very tough call for Gus this weekend and I look forward to this team selection, whoever he picks I am hoping for at least a draw, and three points would be a huge result for us at this stage. Just heard we have been fined 20,000 by the FA.
I think Gus will go Pants Vergini--------O'Shea------Brown--------Reveillere Catts Larrson--------------Gomez Johnson--------------------------------Buckley Wickham But I'd go Pants Vergini--------O'Shea------Brown--------Reveillere Bridcutt Larrson--------------Rodwell Johnson--------------------------------Mavrias Wickham
I like the first team tbh. Hard to second guess at this point as we have no idea how fit the returning players are. Will they all have 2 weeks training under their belts or will they all be well off the pace? On the assumption none are fit enough to start, I'd probably play your team 1, although think Gus might keep Bridcutt in - he loves the lad and he had a really good game against Everton tbf, looked every bit the premier league player for the first time since his debut against the mags imo. I'd probably look to be bringing Alvarez on for Gomez and Giachh on for Buckley later on if they're up to it. Jones I wouldn't play no matter what until he has a good few weeks training and maybe some gametime for the U21s under his belt as the lad is made of glass!
Pants Jones-------Vergini------O'Shea-------Reveillere Catts Larson---------------- Rodwell Alvarez----------------------------------Gaicc Fletcher/Wickham Fletcher would be first if fit. That gives a bench of Vito Brown Bridcut Gomez Johnson Buckley Whickham/Jozy I know Gus would not put all of the returning players in but that looks a decent team with a good looking bench.
Alvarez and Coates returned to training today marra, I wouldn't risk them myself, but make them options. I think it's a good game for Bridcutt to push on, and for Roders to impose himself and to give Mavrias shot. Edit, Jones due back in training in two weeks time according to the northern echo.
Pants... Vergini Brown O'Shea Rev Larsson Catts Rodwell Gomez Johnson Wickham Bench 60 mins Alvarez, Giacceriini, Altidore if needed...
Gus usually goes for a settled side and doesn't seem to like rotating players so much; -------------------Pantilimon--------------------- Vergini-------Oshea---------Brown-----Réveillère -------------------Cattermole-------------- Larsson-------Rodwell---Bridcutt------Johnson ---------------------Wickham--------------
I think Gus will go with Gomez ahead of Rodwell, given Fletch is going to miss out this looks more like it. Catts, Bridcutt and Larsson could work away from home.
First time this season it's been this difficult to guess the team I think. I like the fact that we can't predict the team. MEans that we're getting somewhere near fitness in the squad. Just wish we could predict that Fletcher was playing up front or that Wickham will put his "end of last season" boots on!
The last time we started 4-4-2 away from home we shipped 8 against Southampton, Leicester are no Saints but I think Gus will be a bit more cautious and go back to his normal 4-1-3-1-1
So…………………………………..Pants Vergini OShea Brown Rev Bridcott Larsson Catts Gomez Giacch Wickham This lot would control The Foxes
I like this selection would be very strong in midfield allowing AJ a freer role supporting Whicks up front with options off the bench if AJ is not cutting it.
