Last night Wladimir Klitschko won again, that was his 17th defence of his title.
Is he a great boxer or has he had it easy with the heavyweight division of late having nobody of note to challenge him?
How would he have done say 20 years ago in the heavyweight division ?

A bit of both in my opinion..It is a pity that he has been a great champion in an era of heavyweight mediocrity...

    Agree with Mr.R.
Has he ever been hit by anything Foreman or Frazier could land on you. Would they have got thru his guard.

Do these PC whizz kids not knock these simulators up now n then to compare. Would be interesting to see.

Nowhere near as technically gifted as boxers in lighter weight divisions, has made the best of his career though and you can only beat what's put in front of you, unless it's your brother in his case.

He wouldn't have lasted 3 rounds with Iron Mike at the top of his game.

There's been far worse boxers carrying the belts mind.

Last night was one of the best performances ive seen from him. He's still improving too, ive never seen him use that lead left hook like that. He had a point to prove and he did it. Its hard to compare him to heavyweights of the past and hard to back up arguments with more than opinion. Feel for him in a way as he's fighting in arguably the worst era in heavyweight history.

Manny Steward RIP did a genius job with him getting rid of all his bad habits and protecting that chin. There's moments when its just like watching Lewis (some of the naughtier tactics).

I think he would have been a champion in any era though. The way I look at it.

    Hes better than

    Leon Spinks (beat Ali)
    James Douglas (beat Tyson)
    Michael Moorer (beat Holyfield)
    McCall & Rahman (beat Lewis)

The likes of Marciano and Joe Louis were small heavyweights and Klitschko would have been far too big for them.

    The heavyweight division is hotting up though;

Stiverne v Wilder for the WBC belt coming up. Fury v Chisora the winner will probably get Klitschko. We have Anthony Joshua coming through aswell as Andy Ruiz and a lad called Joseph Parker 11(9) - 0 who looks like a future world champion.

Sure as hell wouldn't have paid for it. A domestic cross Roads fight has no business headlining a ppv. Theyve done well stacking the card with names but its still a shocker from Matchroom.

Ill be going through me brothers as hes agreed to pay for it cos he watches all the boxnations cards at mine

Aye, I don't think I will be paying the £15.99 or whatever it is to watch it live. Should be a good scrap though.

I actually think the pair of them are great, great boxers who unfortunately have the charisma and style of a rich tea biscuit.

At their peak they never had anyone to fight, their technique is utterly superb and suits dominating the way they have/did.

How they'd have faired in the 60's I have no idea but I still feel they'd have made an impression.

Let's all just hope that Bellew gets his chin checked.

As for Klitschko, he's done as good as he could have in his era, but he just doesn't have the appeal of a great fighter. He'd have been the kind of scrapper who'd have been knocked out by a Lewis or a Tyson and written off for good, regardless of his ability, his face just doesn't sell T-shirts.

He's OK, but not that great. Trouble is, he's not had to face "ordinary" heavys of the quality of Earnie Shavers, Gerry Cooney, etc. let alone the greats like Holmes or Ali.

If ever I've hoped for a dramatic double knockout it's now. I hate Cleverly and Bellew and would love to see both of them shown up as the ****e that they are.

Like the last round of Rocky II but neither get up.

This night is more about Groves, Degale, Quigg and Joshua coming through unscathed.

The cruiserweight division is a pointless halfway graveyard and even the winner of Cleverly - Bellew are going to struggle to land big fights.

Exactly like that mate, I'd be over the moon. Pair of clowns.

Not fussed about Groves now either, too big a mouth for someone in his position.

Joshua is the one I can't wait to see in a couple of years. He seems to have it all as is doing well as he steps up.

I've met Cleverley a couple of times when he was boxing under FWP. He is a nice enough guy, I hope he absolutely annihilates Belew beyond recognition.
