The next few weekends are corking with a capital "C": Betfair Chase next weekend (plus that new Rush Hurdle race and Fixed Brush at Haydock) Hennessey at Newbury and Fighting Fifth at Newcastle the weekend after plus Hatton's Grace, Drinmore, Royal Bond from Fairyhouse on the Sunday Tingle Creek at Sandown the week after that (Black Aeroplane time?) plus the John Durkan from Punchestown on the Sunday The International at Cheltenham the week after that The Long Walk at Ascot the week after that .................. and then it's Christmas
For pure unadultered class the Fly, was the standout. For Cheltenham winners I'd be tempted to suggest No More Heroes looks capable of being an Albert Bartlett type, my biggest worry is he might be saved this year and not head. Bordini in the bumper looked pretty tidy too, but god only knows where he is in the Mullins pecking order! From Cheltenham I don't think there were any festival winners, no.
Not a suggestion but got to love the name of Mrs hill 's bumper runner at plumpton -Rude and Crude! Have to give kings Apollo another chance at Leicester -needs good ground -the Chase course invariably is even when the hurdle is soft /heavy! Kelamita for the 3 10 w -with lady bingo the danger. I am also taking a small flyer with hudibras in the 3 00 plum -this trainer can work miracles with old horses -did with the sneezer last week at lingfield.
There's a decent chance we've sen a handicap winner at Cheltenham this weekend. Apart from that i doubt anything was good enough to win at the top table. The best chance may have been Hargam. He travelled all over the field in the Triumph trial but didn't follow through. It may have been inexperience or fitness. It could also have been that he's a bridle monkey or idles when he hits the front. If it's the first two he's a decent triumph horse. If its the latter two he's got no chance.
You can't ask for much more from Deputy Dan can you? He jumped well in the main. He seems to really enjoy racing and I really like the horse. He definitely won't handle Cheltenham on that showing though. Jumped right throughout.
Faugheen entered for the Ascot Hurdle this Saturday - anyone know if he is likely to run? Looks a penalty kick for him, especially with the Haydock race on he same day.
Sara Bradstock fuming re Coneygree - legal proceedings look like being started. Article on the Racing Post website. Sounds like he was very fresh and excited at being on the track again, and was bobbing his head up and down. Racecourse vet took this as a sign of him being lame and scratched him.
I don't know about you lot but i've stuck Coneygree in my tracker. Absolute cert NTO. She's gambled the bollocks off it and they've had their legs chopped from underneath them. To be perfectly honest I feel for the yard.
More than that, they clearly think he could have had a chance for something at the festival and the brucie bonus.
