Tell them there is only one evening of the year when it is justifiable to play Fairytale of New York and that is Christmas Eve. Then it has to be sung very loud and out of tune in a drunken Irish accent, apart from the Kirsty McColl bits.

Can we get a photo casebook of PL's situation? It would be much easier to catch up with the latest installments. Feel free to substitute the real participants for models in their underwear. Also, all posts should begin Dear Miriam.

I have just returned from the O2 Academy in Bristol where I have been watching The Temperance Movement. For those of you who aren't familiar with this band, they are a Rhythm and Blues/hard rock/country rock outfit from Glasgow and they kick ass. There were times during the evening when I almost felt I was back in the late 60's or early '70's but everything they were playing was their own stuff from the last couple of years, plus some brand new material. This was the first night of their latest tour of Britain and Europe, and by the end of it I would bet they will be huger than a huge thing from Hugefordshire. The Academy is a suitably hot and sweaty mosh pit of a venue for a band like them, twin lead guitars laid down over thumping bass and drums with Phil Campbell's rasping vocals cutting through everything, and the packed crowd loved every second. This was my youngest daughter's birthday present to me, and she came along to supervise me and enjoyed herself almost as much as I did. A brilliant evening was had by all.

Edit: I forgot to say thanks to TSS for pointing me in the direction of The Temperance Movement in the first place, with a video he posted on here a year or so ago.

No problem mate. Looks like you enjoy their music as much as I do [if not more..!]. :)

This might be a time to suggest anyone who is blown away by Phil Campbell's excellent bluesy rock voice to check out the various Youtube videos of him before he broke through with TTM.

He did a debut EP [Fresh New Life] in 1997, when only coming upto 20 years old, and it ain't half bad. Here's a sample track - Revolution Babies:

Told you lot about years ago H5N1 will kill a lot of people once it spreads to humans. China are covering deaths up and now it's starting to spread.

That's why I said H5N1, bird flu is starting to mutate and spread. H5N8 is in Netherlands which spreads to humans. It increases the likely hood of the very nasty H5N1 mutating and spreading easier.

Edit: H1N1 is swine flu aha, can tell I haven't worked in the drug area in time..

Not sure what cover up you are referring to. There have been a few reported deaths due to bird flu in China, just about all the deaths were people working closely or in close proximity to the animals infected. Where has this outbreak in the UK been traced as originating from?

My last job I was told the amount of deaths from H5N1 was being covered up. The outbreak in the UK and Netherlands are just mutated strains.

I have just read the BBC report on this latest outbreak. It ends with dozens of people have died in China of various strains of bird flu. In total, the official figure (which I assume the BBC do their research for the article from) is 30 deaths since 2003, hardly dozens as their scaremongering report implies.

It was not a serious comment about the BBC research, I believe their research on any subject is about as thorough as the daily football gossip column for who is the latest player being linked with a move.

After the outbreak of SARS in this part of the world in 2003, first Beijing and then other major airports in China installed sensors that all arriving passengers are checked for infectious illnesses. Any passengers recording high temperatures are taken aside and given a more thorough check before being allowed into the country. With the concern over ebola, other countries are looking at this system.

Many people believe China and other Asian countries are far behind the west. In some areas they are, but in others they are far ahead.

Sensors don't scan birds tho. Birds are the many carriers of it, if it changed to person to person we would be ****ed. Lucky for us atm it is animal to animal or animal to human.

Why do women mess up the most simple instructions? I said "go into town and get second hand copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3". I didn't say "go into town and get a second hand copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"!
