True, but it's looking more likely he will sign isn't it?

It is crazy that the article says he hasn't impressed since his 6m move so should be available for 10m ?
If we didn't know it all ready football really is mad. How does that make sense.

Why should his value have gone up over 50% in 6 months just because he presumably has around 4 years left on his contract. Surely if he hasn't impressed they would be happy to rid themselves of the 4 years of wage obligation (by breaking even or taking a hit )

The Indi rumour is likely just to put pressure of Bertrand and Alderweireld's agents.

Unless we're going 3 at the back. You could put together some pretty tasty Saints teams with a back 3.

To be honest, there is no reason to change formation unless injuries force us to do so. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Probably only a semi-serious answer I assume?
Shane Long was still wanted by Hull. The article implies (but doesn't state) that they don't rate him and presumably do not want to keep him

Could you? I am not so sure. 3 at the back means either one less central midfielder or attacking player. We work well with the 3 in the centre of midfield. I can't see fitting in 3 CBs, 3 CMs, Tadic and Pelle into an effective system (as it would be short on width)

I'd consider Dembele in, personally, seeing Poch is apparently clearing him out. Think we missed a trick by not signing Sigurdsson - a ten goal a season AM would be amazing here. Where we'd fit him in at the moment, I don't know, but am sure we could the best out of Dembele, and as box-to-box and defensive shield he was absolutely immense at Fulham. Maybe if Schneiderlin goes in the summer. I don't often fancy any bigger team rejects, but have always been a fan, and if there's to be a makeweight Spurs player involved in a Jay Rod transfer (plus cash, of course), I'd want him over Townsend (who I am not interested in), and then buy a Jay Rod replacement elsewhere.

    Contract for Cork :emoticon-0110-tongu

    Sign up Alderweireld asap

I'm not convinced Jay Rod will be returning anytime soon and as mentioned on the Redmond thread with Mane leaving for AFCON we're going to need some attacking options. Of the players linked I do like the look of Redmond. He has something about him and is capable of creating something out of nothing. Rough around the edges, but this is what our club does best.

    Back up goalkeeper

    Summer & Beyond

Morgan Schneiderlin - Replacing him will be one of the clubs biggest challenges. Outside of the really elite clubs I don't see anyone who comes close to him. Clasie or Dembele might be options, but we're going to need to replace Morgans passing range. If Big Vic stays then we might be able to get away with a more lightweight player and give some game time to JWP & Reed in the middle.

Danny Ings - Available on a free and if we have extra European games then seems like an educated risk

Petar Stojanovic - Saw this lad for Maribor against Chelsea the other week. 19 year old right back, very impressed

    Sign Bertrand

Mirror saying saints would want both Kane and Townsend as part of any Rodriguez deal.

Seems like lazy journalism to me. Throwing two names saints have previously been linked with and trying to claim it is a new story.

I also imagine that levy would think we should include money and Jay as he probably values them at minikim 25m combined. And that sort of valuations are why spurs are a nightmare to deal with

Add in that Kane is very raw and Townsend is a very limited (and also awful) player. I know the Redmond thread has comments like "with coaching ..." Etc but for the wages andros would demand (i imagine at least 50k as I think that is around what he is on at spurs - making him our top earner) - I just don't see it happening.

Am an admirer of JRod and how he fitted into our team last season, but he's not Cristiano Ronaldo. Why would MP be so desperate to sign him and why would Levy back him to that extent? Asking for 2 players + money is virtually saying he's not for sale. We may be ready to sell Jay, because he wants to go (?) and we don't need him as much as we thought in the summer, but I don't believe this rumour.

Hang on! An unsubstantiated rumour from a little bird about Jayrod not wanting to stay at Saints..... and not one single derisory comment aimed towards the post? What's going on? Where are all the posters claiming this must be someone who has read this in the gutter press? Can't possibly correct.
