just a word of warning about the 4 mil, I did say I think, TBH I was half listening to sky so if anyone knows a more def fig jump in
I think this sums it up exactly. If we can £4m for him (considering he's coming into the last year of his contract) and with 2 other good keepers at the club we have to accept it. He's a tremendous shot stopper but Stoke away last year (albeit along with bad ref decisions) where he was completely weak and indecisive in dealing with high balls into the box made my mind up about him
Only showed in glimpses what he's capable of,sad if he's leaving but Mingolet has shown his worth in his first season and Westwood is highly rated.....
When fit and on form, he's arguably the best keeper in the league, seriously. I have never seen reflex's like his, you'll probs remember his save against Bolton last season, that was not unusual for flash, some of his one-handed and fingertip stuff is borderline miraculous, a wonderful shot stopper. Very hit and miss on crosses though, and when he's miss, he's way off. He'll be a magnificent signing for you, and you can ease Sczceney in, i agree with you in that he will go on to be a world class keeper. No surprise to me, and if he goes all the best, we have 2 younger keepers, and i like the confidence in their own ability Mig and Westwood have.
Would take 4m 2bh I know its a loss but he is in the last year of his contract, we won't get much more than that for him. Would be better for everyone I rekon Arsenal get a realy good keaper We get a player off the wage bill and let Mig and Westwood fight it out for the number 1 spot, personally would go with the Mig, that lad has serious potential
....and the same match made me think his time was up. That was a truely shocking display from a top flight keeper. Yes, he's had some magificent performances for us, the Bolton save in particular was world class, but those performances are becoming rarer than hens teeth. He seems to play with fear instead of confidence, which is a real problem when your playing position is goalkeeper. IMO, it's time for him to move on.
I still think his defenders in front of him have a lot to answer for with that Stoke game. I watched stoke before and after our game, think the one after was Liverpool, and their defenders got in the space between Goalkeeper and their attacker and stopped the attacker getting right on top of the keeper, in our game, our defenders were in front of the attacker, so he was right on top of Gordon, now not sure whos fault that was, Bruces tactics or Gordons plan or the defenders just not doing their job properly but it went horribly wrong that day.
shame to lose him but maybe it's time great shotstopper maybe a bit of a vampire, think we did pay over the odds, was surprised we lashed out as much at the time think as mentioned above if he'd been less of a sicknote ( but defoe was to blame for some of that) there would have already been a bid from someone like man u or the gooners 4 million would seem cheap to me,maybe with somone we would like as part of the deal? Nasri as a swap hehe? the mig and the new boy should be cover enough
Heard lots of positive things about Westwood but not seen enough of him to have a view - Mig is a great prospect but suffers on the crosses as per Gordo - any decent keeper coaches in the offing???
I agree. I have no knowledge of club business but wondered if his latest knee injury was made worse by the doctors/physios not realising how serious it was in the first place. He can't be happy about that and maybe him and his reps and SB/the club have had words about it?? Certainly if he was staying I would have expected him to have been offered new contract terms already, despite any injury. Personally I think Gordon is a very good keeper but he was always going to find it hard to live up to his ridiculous price tag. It also must be concerning to him that we have now bought 2 good young international keepers in the last year, who will both want to be first choice. Taking all this into account, plus his injury record (no thanks to Jermain Defoe like!), and his probable high wage demands, it is almost certainly time for him to move on.
The bad buisness was done the day we signed him. He is a good shot stopper but has no idea how to keep goal. His pass completion is second to none, finds an opponent 95% of the time which keeps us under presure. Get rid any price not prem standard, one of Keano,s buys akin to McShane.
We should take 4 million for a shot stopper who is injury prone and in the last year of his contract.I'm sure that SB wouldn't have brought another keeper in if he intended to keep Flash. He put in some good performances but also some shockers;good luck to Flash if he does go.
He is a very good goalie worth £4m. We paid £9m? So. I want £4m and a player. What are your options, Arsen? x
