If it was just about being a team game, we wouldn't ever be giving Man of the Match out would we? In this case I can understand why Rooney is being singled out. Not that I give a flying fck anyway tbh.
Clyne made his debut and no one is talking about it because our hero scored a pen and did **** all else during the game And I know he did more than Hendo, Sterling & Lallana who were all pants as well
We don't.... sponsorship companies do so they can get a shout out... "and the Barclaycard MOTM is...." Do you think players give a **** if they get motm? Unless they have a motm bonus clause in the contract, doubt most of them care. Or do you think that trophy they get presented goes pride of place on the mantlepeice <whitle>
Yeh but it doesn't change the fact it happens. And nobody ever complains about MOTM being awarded in principle bcos it's a team sport. And we as fans also often pick players out for performance. We also bring up stats and all sorts to highlight how good/bad individual players are. Sterling will get credit for his performance despite the rest of Liverpool team being ****e for example
Exactly. We discuss, performance and praise the people that played well. Not just about 1 person because it was his 100th game (with probably 40 of them being friendlies and 30 being against teams ranked 70+) and scoring a penalty
Oddly enough, the most i have seen written about Rooney is on this thread. Most news outlets have spoken about Clynes debut with enthusiasm stating the position is his to claim, they have also made Welbeck man of the match in the main.
So name the player who has made 100 competitive appearances against top 20 sides and we can all bow to him
Wellllll messi probably The fact is the globe trotting top sides these days play a lot of premium friendlies England don't All 100 caps for england means these days is continued mediocrity over time and you can add Gerrard to that Beckham... Didn't deserve caps after.... 95?, 98? Gerrard 100 caps when in it were 2002 I doubt he'd have got there, certainly didn't deserve last 6/7 The list can go on really I mean let's not kid ourselves when England last had a decent 11 Neville was the best rb but he only got and merited 90, just about.
So what you are saying is a proper match analysis would have praised a sterling (slightly) and a welbeck and even a Rooney, condemned England for being asleep until Henderson woke them up and saved a special tribute piece til the end However it's just easier to paper over the cracks and ignore how bad England were
Exactly, can be a playing time thing as Woy also picked Theo '10mins' Walcott. Its about time the football world woke up and realise Johnson is ****.
If we play like we did in the first half, we'll get twatted by the sweaties. PS Not ****ing arsed anyway
The sweaties would have a National holiday, drinking their own body weight in celebration... Whereas, we'd just give it a collective...meh.
If Scotland win- I won't be surprised because Roy Hodgson is an idiot! It's a game we should always win- but I refuse to support England whilst Roy is in charge. I'm supporting, Wales, Hungary, and Romania. (yes all of them) until Woy gets the sack- then I'll go back to supporting England.
Hold on I was just pointing out it's not just about being a team game, which you're now agreeing with lol If you want to argue whether he deserves it Bis you can do that with someone who gives a s**t
Why the **** are England playing a friendly game 4.5 months before the next qualifier but just 4 days before the next round of PL games?
