Hi guys and gals. After lots of deliberation I have decided its best that I step down as moderator. Lately I am getting less and less time to read the board. Recently, despite my lack of posts, I had been able to read and catch up on all that needed to be done. However, the last couple of weeks that has not been possible due to work and other commitments and I feel that, whilst the board practically runs itself, if I cannot commit the time it would be unfair to continue. The decision is now about who wishes to take over the role. I am happy for you all to decide amongst yourselves and I will let the powers that be know what the decision is when its made.
Big decision BHD - well done - and thanks for your time in the chair. May I make a comment that I feel it is important for the Mod to be someone who not only views the board on a daily basis give or take - but also someone who posts frequently so that posters feel in touch with them. I would propose any of our frequent users (Canary Dave is out for obvious reasons) - AK, OFH, Yorkie??? The job from my experience is not at all onerous but needs someone who can make a decision if one is needed fairly speedily.
All the best BHD... and thanks for your good work for us all here... I am happy to be considered for it if no one else steps up..... but no interest in an election.... But there are others who may want to do it and I would not stand in their way.... I guess if those who were interested put themselves forward?
Yes thanks BHD it has been appreciated. Although I might post on here most days, it can be first thing in the morning and then last thing at night depending on the weather. A lot could happen in the hours between, although the record suggests that our forum is good at regulating itself. I do not wish to do it really, and would only agree if no one else would. As Yorkie is willing I think that lets me off the hook.
I look forward to us finding a BHD replacement, thanks for volunteering Yorkie! If anyone else is interested, post it here, otherwise we can all welcome Yorkie to the post!
Many thanks to BHD for everything. Thanks also to Yorkie for volunteering. Most of the time we don't need a second mod - but there could be times (like during our spat with the supermods) when H should not be left alone. I would only be happy to do it if no one else were interested.
No - I have had my go and it is time for someone else to do it - the only circumstance I would have considered it would have been if nobody else volunteered but as both Yorkie and Cologne have said they are willing to step up I suggest they decide between themselves who wants to do it more - or less. Unless anyone else wants to put their hat in the ring.
Leo - that now makes 3 of us who will only consider doing it 'if nobody else volunteers'. So it's clear that nobody is that enthusiastic. Do we need a second Mod ? I would need to know exactly what the job entails before volunteering - I also think Yorkie is right in not wanting anything to do with elections (I don't either). In fact elections would not be necessary because there is no regulation saying how many mods we should have. Fulham have 2,541 threads but no mod. QPR have more users than we have but only one mod. Some boards have 4-5. So anyone who is half interested can do it without us competing with each other.
I am happy not to vote for Yorkie if he wishes no election, as there is no opposition to him. I would not like to take this work on. The job almost is invisible here, with the few times something must be done then can be horrid.
To be honest Cologne - there is very little involved and as you say we could manage with one or even no Mods. However originally I was a Mod on my own and there were occasions when I would be absent for a while so I suggested a second Mod as a back up. That has served us very well. H cannot always be around and so I strongly suggest a second Mod is helpful. Let's see if we leave it a day or two to see if anyone would actually like to step up.
Thanks BHD. As for being a mod, I am already a rocker.... (there's a joke in there somewhere) but seriously I would consider it if absolutely necessary and others deem that I am not too 'controversial'? (I do have my moments, I know)
Thanks, BHD, you stepped up boldly and you can leave knowing it was a job well done. I will be grateful to whoever steps up now, and I'm sad to say I daren't offer to do so myself, my illness does not allow the slightest amount of stress or responsibility.
Sorry to see you go Dan, you helped me out a lot when I first joined and I enjoyed your stories through your time at Uni. As for Mod I would like to put forward, Yorkie, Cologne, OFH or Hornet-fez who would all do a much better job than me.
